Oct 08-Sep 09: MSc Dissertation: “Low cost trajectories to the Moon”. Mathematical analysis of the Earth-Moon dynamical system for the use of low-energy paths traveling to the Moon. Computation and representation of a group of trajectories using Matlab and comparison of the energy and time of flight required to reach the Moon for a range of variables.
Oct 08-Dec 08: Antenna lab sessions. Design and construction of different antenna designs, transmission line measurements, link budget measurements and gain characterization.
Mar 09-May 09: Microsatellite design. Preliminary systems design of an experimental microsatellite for a hypothetical project of the Surrey Space Center. Orbit, propulsion, payload, power, telemetry and command, thermal, AODCS and transmission systems configuration. Calculations providing mass, volume, power and link budgets.
Sep 07-Jul 08: Thesis: “Development of educational material for satellite communications” using Satellite Toolkit (AGI/STK). Theoretical analysis of simple telecommunications systems and their parameters. Definition of multiple scenarios based on the theoretical telecommunication systems accompanied by link budgets using representative values for each parameter. Using the theoretical results a number of scenarios were simulated using Satellite ToolKit. Comparison of the theoretical link budgets to the simulations. Representation of more complex telecommunication scenarios and link budgets.
Nov 03-Dec 03: Telecommuting and how it affects the world, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), Telematics and GPS systems applications. Group project.
Jun 01-Nov 01: “Life in the Universe”, a contest held by ESA at the facilities of CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. We represented Greece and were granted the fifth place in the scientific field among 27 European countries.
Aug 08: Student workshop, “System engineering and Technology for Space Missions”, ESA-ESTEC, Netherlands (1 week). Lectures on all aspects of space industry including visit of the test facilities and demonstration of on going laboratory experiments.
