    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Monitor the health and status of all satellites.

    Keep knowledge up-to-date on all satellites and all consoles.

    Be aware of all on-going operations and documents.

    Ensure that all procedures, memos and task orders, which help with nominal and anomalous configuration is in place, understood and correctly applied.

    Review procedures before they are applied to the s/c and provide constructive feedback if in error.

    Ensure availability is 6 Sigma or better.

    Ensure safe operations of the SES satellite fleet.

    Execute all procedures, memos and task orders to maximize satellite availability in a safe, controlled and timely manner. Liaise with all the relevant sections to receive the latest information and updates.

    Obtain certifications of the new satellite platforms as they are introduced in the SOC.

    Perform major anomaly review and simulations per satellite bus as planned.

    Act as the controller specialist direct link to Satellite Subsystem Engineers for all automated procedure   coding requirements.

    With the guidance of Satellite Subsystem Engineers, assist in the management of Ground Triggers.

    At shift handover ensure, that the new shift Controllers are briefed correctly and completely.

    Ensure that all daily operations schedule entries are correct, and all required activities are properly scheduled.

    Ensure anomaly response is fast end effective.

    In case of need apply the escalation procedure and inform the relevant parties as directed.

    Implement special operations like IOT, re-locations and GCS transfer.

    Provide complete, precise and understandable logbook entries.

    Prepare Daily Reports as required, report and coordinate directly with SOC Manager.

    Demonstrate good team spirit and proactively seek to fulfil all the tasks on the different satellite consoles.

    Analyse, evaluate and question ways of improving how satellite operations are carried out in general. Seek to find better solutions and suggest ways to perform such changes.

    Support the implementation of the Mutual Backup SOC.

    Be prepared to train US/Gibraltar staff by all possible means (through classroom training, video / telephone conferencing etc.) on Boeing TCR, Eclipse, HiFly, EPOCH and the related satellites controlled from Luxembourg.

    Maintain and develop courses to enable Luxembourg to be a backup for the US and vice versa.

    Support launch and integration of new S/C and GCS

    Achieve proficient knowledge by attending the Controller training courses for NSS 12 (Loral 1300) and ASTRA 3B (Astrium 3000, delta to 1M), to be able to support ghost operations. Provide constructive feedback to Satellite Subsystem Engineers.

    Support analysts during mission and payload IOT / reshuffling when required.

    Ensure you readily inform and technically educate your fellow shift workers so that they may safely control new satellites.
