TOKYO -  Japanese space scientists have unveiled the asteroid hunting space probe they hope to launch later this year on a mission to mine a celestial body. The probe, named Hayabusa-2, is expected to be flung into space on a rocket for a mammoth four year voyage to the unpoetically-named 1999JU3 asteroid. When it gets there, some time in 2018, it will release a powerful cannon which will fire a metal bullet at the asteroid's barren crust, once the probe itself has scuttled to safety on th...

WASHINGTON -  NASA officials Wednesday announced they have completed a rigorous review of the Space Launch System (SLS) -- the heavy-lift, exploration class rocket under development to take humans beyond Earth orbit and to Mars -- and approved the program's progression from formulation to development, something no other exploration class vehicle has achieved since the agency built the space shuttle. For its first flight test, SLS will be configured for a 70-metric-ton (77-ton) lift capacity and car...

WASHINGTON -  The US space agency's powerful deep-space rocket, known as the Space Launch System (SLS), aims to blast off for the first time in 2018, NASA said Wednesday. The SLS has been in development for three years already, and when finished it should propel spacecraft beyond Earth's orbit and eventually launch crew vehicles to Mars by the 2030s. NASA has now completed a thorough review of the project, signifying formal space agency commitment to the 70 metric ton version of the SLS at ...

NASA has completed a complex series of tests on one of the largest composite cryogenic fuel tanks ever manufactured, bringing the aerospace industry much closer to designing, building, and flying lightweight, composite tanks on rockets. “This is one of NASA’s major technology accomplishments for 2014,” said Michael Gazarik, NASA’s associate administrator for Space Technology. “This is the type of technology that can improve competitiveness for the entire U.S....

HOUSTON -  Boeing [NYSE: BA] will begin manufacturing a new docking system for the International Space Station (ISS), having recently completed the critical design review for the NASA Docking System Block-1 (NDSB-1). In compliance with the International Docking System standard, NDSB-1 will be compatible with any space craft. “This new docking system is a key stepping stone as we look to the future of deep space exploration,” said John Shannon, Boeing International Space Station program m...

    Work experience

January 2010 - now Post Doctoral Researcher - University of Pavia

Obtained my Ph.D i’m currently continuing my research activity at the University of Pavia. Actually i work in Sensor&MicroSystems (SMS) and Power Electronic laboratories.

    Topics of my activity are:

    Sensor interface circuit design

    Energy harvesting solutions

    Multi-sensor ambient assisted living applications

Analog and mixed-signal microelectronic IC design

The application that i’m realizing is a battery-less intelligent sensor node system in order to analyze environmental parameters.

    2006 - January 2010 Ph.D. Student - University of Pavia

Research activities in Microelectronics field. Topics of my activity are sensors front-ends and energy harvesting integrated microsystems design. Harvester devices retrieve energy from the external environment and provide it to an electronic system to be supplied. In particular i realized a high precision electronic compass, a current measuring system for portable applications and integrated photovoltaic power conditioning systems. The results i obtained allowed me to win the golden leaf at IEEE

PRIME 2009 international conference for Ph.D students.

    2005 - April 2006 Web Engineer - Freelance

Web applications design. The portfolio is presented at the website http://www.hiexp.com/Ita/Portfolio.php

    January 2003 - June 2005 Hardware designer - AT

Feasibility study, R&D activity, production planning of an electronic advertisement device.
