    I’m a Ground Segment Engineer at Telespazio, Napoli.

    I have supported several experiments related to scientific payloads on the International Space Station(ISS) working on both European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA ground segment.

    My work experience includes also the design and test of instruments for Biomedical research.

    Main activities and responsibilities

     

    Support to the implementation of ESA and NASA scientific experimental program on the ISS. The work included the design, configuration,  operations and maintenance of the ground segments for the different experiments and the support to data processing and distribution to the scientific community. The work was performed according to the specifications and policies provided by the two agencies and included the operations of different ground segment systems (e.g. Monitoring and Control systems) and operational interfaces.

     

    Responsibilities included:

    ●        Engineering consulting in the field of telecommunications and information technology.

    ●        Setting up and maintenance of the ground segments.

    ●        Configuration, integration and testing of the systems H/W and S/W.

    ●        Validation and testing with external interfaces interfaces.

    ●        Implementation of security policies.

    ●        Configuration, integration and test for telemetry and telecommands systems.

    ●        Development and testing of operational products (e.g. displays and procedures)

    ●        Development, Configuration and maintenance of DB and SW specific modules for managing data and video.

    ●        Development of systems’ performance analysis processes in support to data distribution.

    ●        Development of user front-end Monitoring & Control interfaces.

    ●        Support of real-time operations and troubleshooting.
