As a technical writer, editor and independent science researcher with 15 years experience in various publishing departments and institutes, I feel I would be an ideal candidate for space or aerospace agency or related technical information development and dissemination.
I earned my experience working for an international peace research institute (SIPRI) publication department and library, copyediting such works as;Success and Failure in Arms Control Negotiations, April Carter; Cultural Norms, War and the Environment, Edited by Arthur H. Westing; Superpowers at Sea: An Assessment of the Naval Arms Race, Richard Fieldhouse and Shunji Taoka; Security at Sea Naval Forces and Arms Control, Edited by Richard Fieldhouse; Global Resources and International Conflict Environmental Factors in Strategic Policy and Action, Edited by Arthur H. Westing; and Embargo Disimplemented: South Africa's Military Industry, Signe Landgren. I gained additional experience at a telecommunications company developing and delivering technical product information in printed and online formats. I also developed linguistic techniques for proactively teaching English as a second language.
In addition, I worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics for several years as an unpaid independent researcher touching on anthropology, archaeology and solar and geo science history and climate concerns. Some of my work resulted in co-authored publications in popular fora such as Astronomy Now andthe Mercury (Astronomical Society of the Pacific) as well as one science monograph Maunder Minimum: the Variable Sun-earth Connectionwhich details human population stresses in times of disastrous climate change. The book is also a contribution to women’s science history. It partially restores the reputation of solar astronomer and mathematician Annie S.D. (Russell) Maunder. I also participated as an editorial board member of the prestigious marketing electrical engineering journal Ericsson Review where I recommended titles for publication and proactively encouraged both the acceptance and writing of articles for the Review.
I possess exceptional communication skills including the ability to make highly technical or abstract points of view understandable to mainstream readers. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Russian Language and Literature (graduated with honors), and have completed additional coursework in sciences including biology, natural history, speech pathology and social sciences. I am bilingual, fluent in English and Swedish and can read and write some Russian. Lastly, I am amember of the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS).
