The "Tape Wormhole" at the Liberty Science Center, along with the "Tape Gemini" capsule, is an interactive exhibit for space lovers young and old. The Liberty Science Center in New Jersey is currently inviting visitors to crawl through a space-time wormhole and explore a scale model of a Gemini capsule that sheltered astronauts in space in the 1960s - both made from rolls of translucent packing tape.

This summer, electroactive polymers designed by US entrepreneur Lenore Rasmussen are spending three months on board the International Space Station to test their radiation resistance. Rasmussen has been working on them for 12 years in the hope of one day improving prosthetics and robotics.

NASA's New Horizons mission is returning to normal science operations after a July 4 anomaly and remains on track for its July 14 flyby of Pluto. The mission operations center at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Maryland, lost contact with the unmanned spacecraft at 1:54 p.m. EDT July 4 and regained communications with New Horizons at 3:15 p.m. EDT, through NASA's Deep Space Network.

A Russian cargo ship arrived safely at the International Space Station early Sunday, easing concerns about a potential supply shortage after consecutive mission failures. Local 6 News partner Florida Today says the un-piloted Progress 60 spacecraft carrying more than 3 tons of food, fuel and spare parts docked at the orbiting research complex at 3:11 a.m. Eastern time, two days after launching from Kazakhstan.

    1) System level knowledge of different Earth Observation missions: Platform, Payload and Ground Segment.

    2) In depth knowledge of Spacecraft Platforms and Subsystems: Power, Thermal, Attitude and Orbit Control, Data Handling, Communications.

    Specifically I have acquired hands-on in CryoSat-2 and Swarm missions, systems and subsystems design. Other Earth Observation missions have also been studied at system level (Envisat, GOCE).

    3) CryoSat-2 Platform Preventive Maintenance carried out by monitoring and analysing the house-keeping telemetry (HKTM) key parameters in a routine cycle (weekly, monthly and long-term reviews):

    - Monitoring of the performance of the satellite platform
    - Identifying trends
    - Diagnosing possible anomalies

    4) CS-2 Platform Corrective Maintenance, by following up on the investigations performed in order to safely recover the satellite from platform anomalies.

    5) Support to the Earth Observation Projects Management by providing weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on the Platform IOP evolution and configuration.
