Qualification Summary:
Mr. H. has experience with both Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and NASA contracts. He has worked on missile system modeling in the areas of trajectories and optical signatures. His NASA experience is with the Space Shuttle and Constellation Programs performing Safety and Mission Assurance. Mr. H. also has experience with research through NASA Space Grant and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Professional Experience:
Millennium Engineering and Integration Company – M&S Engineer October 2011-present
Performed analysis of drop test data, specifically through the plotting of various sets of data of the results of numerous tests. Worked on a diverse team of engineers for analysis and planning of missile flight tests.
SAIC – Aerospace Engineer II May 2009 – October 2011
Immediately began work on an MS Access database that greatly improved the ability of users to track and document locations and transfers. Moved into software testing and eventually development for a data management tool for MDA files. Performed documentation management for missile systems. Took over as the OPTISIG user, building and executing models for optical signature analysis. Transferred to a different area to work with Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), supporting post-test data analysis and pre-flight planning using GMDSim. Built and integrated a STAMP model of a Navy interceptor. Other trajectory modeling experience with Omega.
SAIC – Associate Safety Engineer July 2007 – April 2009
Performed Safety and Mission Assurance for the Space Shuttle Program. Worked in the areas GN&C, weather, and requirements. Assessed flight rules and hazard reports. Also worked on Constellation Program, performing safety analysis of Orion Crew Capsule redesign. Sat at the S&MA Console in the Mission Evaluation Room during Shuttle missions.
WesTest – Lab Technician June 2006 – June 2007
Became a certified technician in nine days. Worked through the process of making asphalt in the lab from measuring out materials to mixing in oil and compressing the mix into testable pieces of pavement. Ran numerous tests in the lab to determine the properties of the asphalt. Ran two remote labs for major paving projects.
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory – Intern June 2005 – August 2005
Worked on a student concept study exemplifying the connection between Lunar and Martian missions. Performed extensive research to determine how a Mars mission could leverage off a Moon mission. Worked on a team to design two missions to take advantage of the synergy (Project DIOSCURI). Aided in the development of a mission concept report. Acted as Lunar Mission Systems Lead to ensure all subsystems met design implementation guidelines.
NASA Space Grant – Researcher September 2004 – May 2005
Magnetic field Investigation of Mars by Interacting Consortia (MIMIC)
Began work on the Mission Design Team, later taking over the responsibility as lead and organizing a team of 10 - 15 students. Developed a Martian High Precision Orbital Propagator in STK. Designed the orbits for the mission and the necessary orbital maneuvers. Also developed coverage maps. Prepared and presented weekly team updates.
