Performed stress analysis on satellite and missile programs involving both composite and metallic structures to ensure stability, strength and optical performance during fabrication, launch and operation.  At different times, I served as overall Stress and technical lead.  Projects at Lockheed have included: development of composite satellite bus structure and its autoclave tooling; optical metrology bench; active optic control hardware; rocket inter-stage and nozzle mounting joints, engine heat shielding, writing of stress analysis methodology standards

Research Assistant - Oregon State University – Mechanical Engineering & Forest Products, 10/91 - 6/00.
• Under NASA contract, developed theory of damage in laminated plate and applied it to damage tolerance analysis of composite aircraft. Wrote theory into nonlinear FEA code to simulate progressive damage growth. Developed novel fracture test to characterize composite. Programmed test controls using LabView. Simulation results correlated well with fuselage tests. • Under Boeing Commercial contract, developed bolted repair of large-scale composite fuselage damage using geometrically nonlinear FEA COSMOS/M).   • Under Commercial Contract, R&D of natural fiber composites made from agricultural wastes. Developed press controls to optimize product economy and performance or simulate client press processes.

Mechanical Engineer - Structural Analyst: Boeing Defense & Space Group, 7/86 - 7/91.
• Developed a load-bearing conformal GPS antenna for fuselage integration. Predicted performance using nonlinear   FEA. Developed and characterized dual-purpose dielectric-structural materials.  • An aircraft structural health monitoring system was researched for fatigue, impact and corrosion detection and assessment. Established benefits and system requirements. Experimentally investigated optical sensor technology and its embedment in composite structure.
• Structural analysis and test of high performance ejection seat. Analyzed graphite/epoxy seat chassis, metallic catapult and cockpit integration assembly. Quantified body restraint loads.
