    Thesis title (experimental-computational work):

    Regional ionospheric mapping of the Vertical Total Electron Content of the ionosphere retrieved from GPS data using generalised RBF neural networks.

    Personally developed a software package to implement RBF neural networks. Discovered an exceptional mid-latitude aurora when other classical analytical instruments failed.

     

    2003/2004: training at the Aeronomy and Radio Propagation Laboratory, (ARPL) of the Abdus Salam International Centre of Theoretical Physics of Trieste in studies about Ionosphere with data from GPS navigation system and software development, data analysis; work thesis made at the ARPL.

     

    1999: School exchange program - Erasmus - at Orsay, Université de Paris 11 (France)

    - one year of stay.

     

    1989 - 1994: Secondary school, scientific studies at Liceo Scientifico Guglielmo Oberdan, Trieste, Italy.

     

     

    Working experiences

     

    September 2008: software developer (firmware, GUI) for the Apple i-Phone at Datamind, Udine, Italy. Upgrading the Jade photo-retouching program for the Apple i-Phone.

     

    April/August 2008: studying web-marketing (copy-writing, list-building).

     

    January 2007/march 2008: employed at the Center for Advanced Research in Space Optics,

    (C.A.R.S.O.)  in Trieste, Italy, as embedded software developer.

    Personally developed a software for the Photo II bio-device within the ESA Foton - M3 project. Photo II has been launched into orbit on September 14, 2007 from the Baikonur base, Kazhakstan and flew perfectly for 12 days before landing.

     

    april/december 2006: employed at the University of Trieste as scientific software developer (C++, Matlab) within the INAF VLT Survey Telescope in order to make image processing  and simulations of the VST telescope performances. Related publication: 2007 - Sedmak, Carozza, Marra – Numerical characterization of the observational Point Spread Function of the VST telescope , it has been presented at Erice DAA Workshop 2007. The VST telescope is currently operating at the ESO Paranal Observatory, Chile.

     

    2004/2005 independent consultant at the Aeronomy and Radio Propagation Laboratory,

    (ARPL, Trieste, Italy) as software developer and (GPS) data analyst for telecommunication and scientific purposes.
