The feasibility impact was done evaluating different visibility condition in critical phase of flight (Approach and Landing). In doing that two similar projects have been used which are NASA SVS project and AWARD SVS project (European). Apart from Alenia Aeronautica, the grant has been proposed by two other companies:

    • CRF (Centro Ricerche FIAT), headquarter in Orbassano (Torino);
    • CNR (Centro Nazionale delle Ricerche) headquarter in Rome.

    From May 2002 to January 2003 (Alenia Corso Marche - Torino):

    Employee of consultancy company, I have been working at Alenia Aeronautica, Flight Simulators Development Department (EFA 2000 and C27J). Later on, employed at EFA 2000 Avionics Navigation System Department at Alenia Aeronautica (SIMT) as system engineer.

    From January 2003 to December 2006 (EADS Deutschland GmbH – ASTA IPT – Ottobrun - Manching)

    As Alenia consultant, I have been working in Germany at EADS-D (European Aeronautics Defence & Space) for EF 2000 simulator (Aircrew Synthetic Training Aids). Employed at Ottobrunn (Munich) firstly and later on at Manching Air Force Base place. During that period of time, I have been covering the EF 2000 Navigation and Communication Subsystems responsibility (from technical point of view) as System Engineer. Besides this, I was responsible for aircraft Crew Escape subsystem as well.

    This was for ASTA (Aircrew Synthetic Training Aids) simulator development (common EF 2000 simulator for all Eurofighter Partner Companies, EPCs).

    In the System Engineering structure, I have been involved in producing and managing the relevant technical documentation (using DOORS tool), system requirements, simulator evaluation test procedures, major point of contact for all the involved nations, etc.

    To do that, I am used to travel for attending to several meetings at the different EPCs.

    During the ongoing program, revision and preparation of Technical Manuals (Acceptance Test Manuals – Manuals to be used for the acceptance of the end-to-end specific subsystem functional chains) for the aforementioned EFA SubSystems (NAV, COMMS, Spoken COMMS, Direct Voice Input and Crew Escape).

    International meetings attendance as technical responsible for several aircraft subsystems (review, technical comments discussion with suppliers, document finalisation for ASTA simulator acceptance).

    Meeting attendance with customers (NETMA – Nations) to discuss ATMs review and relevant comments.

    Eurofighter pilot techniques acquisition (several flight hours on different Eurofighter ASTA Simulators) executing tests during integration and acceptance phases for different subsystems belonging to the aircraft and providing first goodness of the EF 2000 simulator behaviour to the operational factors (pilots)

    Due to project ongoing integration activities (avionics subsystems), position of “System Owner” / “Tasks Leader” (integration tasks and acceptance responsibility) for the Engineering test and Factory Acceptance Test about NAV and ACS (Armament Control System). Getting in close touch with the most of project teams (required people for problem solving, organising the relevant activities at system level).

    Defining EPCs support and man-hours needs for the relevant activities, when required.

    Priority management of the relevant snags / issues / SPRs (System Problem Report) on the relevant subsystems functional chain.

    Attending to SPRs investigations / analysis priorities and flight profiles (for solutions testing) to get properly to required milestones for delivering to the Customer - Nations.
