    Operations Engineer within the Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) ESA Operations Management Team at the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES). Responsible for management of the development and maintenance of ATV Multi-Element Procedures (MEPs), which synchronised activities between three International Space Station (ISS) control centres (ATV-CC Toulouse, MCC-Houston and MCC-Moscow) and the ISS Crew during coordinated operations such as rendezvous, docking, attached-phase operations, ISS re-boost and undocking. Chairman of multilateral MEP Working Group.

     

    Responsible for development and maintenance support of ATV Operations Interface Procedures, which specified data transfer/management requirements between ATV/ATV-CC and the ISS and international partners. Member of multilateral OIP Working Group. Also member of ATV-2 Operations Planning Team; supported development of streamlined operations planning based on lessons learned from the ATV-1 flight. Provided support to ATV Joint Operations Working Group (JOWG).

Provided real-time commanding during routine maintenance and anomaly recovery procedure execution, Flight Control Procedure (FCP) development and maintenance, housekeeping telemetry monitoring, trending and reporting, anomaly investigation and resolution, and technical interchange with ESTEC, ESRIN and Industry partners.

     

    Backup responsibilities for the ENVISAT Payload Module and other instruments. Experienced with SCOS-1B, MOIS, ENVISAT Simulator and MPS Display Tool.

Developed Satellite Instrument Services control procedures and SCP Development Monitoring Tool, providing detailed procedure development/validation status and metrics tracking. Supported Procedure Validation Database development, identification of System and Ground Operations MMIs, and System Integration, Verification & Validation preparation activities.

    Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer and Chief Flight Director in the Mission Systems Engineering and Operations Department. Responsible for satellite LEOP and Commissioning planning, preparation and flight operations, including operations concept definition, operations procedure development and maintenance, flight database validation, simulations campaign and operator certification, anomaly/PR resolution, and flight operations process improvement. Member of HS601 and HS601HP Flight Operations Products Configuration Review Boards and Mission Corrective Action Board.

     

    Flight Director during LEOP and Commissioning operations, responsible for leading on-console flight control teams through all satellite and ground operations during launch, transfer orbit, deployments, acquisitions and in-orbit testing. Certified Flight Director for HS601, HS601HP and HS702 series satellites. Supported approximately 20 launches for the Anik, Asiasat, Astra, DirecTV, Galaxy, JCSAT, Panamsat, Satmex and Superbird satellite programs.

     

    Provided extended on-site flight operations engineering support at SES (Luxembourg) and JSAT (Japan) satellite ground stations. Responsible for initial Routine Operations support for the Astra-1G, JCSAT-6 and JCSAT 8 programs.

    October 1985 ‑ April 1996

     

    Systems Operations Department, Visible/Ultraviolet Experiment (VUE) and Defense Support Program (DSP) Orbital Operations Programs. Responsible for system operations support of a space-based optical instrument, and providing real-time, on-console satellite operations engineering support from various ground facilities during launch and early on-orbit testing (LEOP). Supported 5 DSP and TDRS launches. Responsible for coordination of satellite anomaly investigation and closeout documentation, and preparation of orbital data analysis reports. Provided customer support at anomaly review boards, technical interchange meetings and readiness reviews.

     

    Also worked on Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle (OMV) spacecraft system integration, payload interface compatibility, STS integration and launch system integration engineering and interface documentation for STS and ELV launch of various government spacecraft.

     

    HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY, SPACE and COMMUNICATIONS GROUP, El Segundo, CA, USA

    September 1980 ‑ September 1985

     

    Launch Vehicle Integration Project Office. Responsible for STS integration, interface documentation, system safety, mission simulations campaign support and launch site processing for the Aussat, Morelos, Palapa, SBS and Telstar satellite programs manifested for launch on STS flights 41-D, 51-G, 51-I, 61-B and 61-H. Provided real-time, on-console satellite operations engineering support from the NASA Johnson Space Center (MPSR) during STS flights 41‑D and 51‑G.

     

    Also worked on propulsion and attitude control subsystem hardware integration, STS system safety, solid rocket motor procurement and ignition system devices.
