I am a recent graduate of the

I possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and I am able to relate to a wide range of people. I am an ambitious, academically flexible individual with wide ranging interests, who is keen to continue working towards a career with scientific/engineering aspects, although I welcome the opportunity to transfer my skills to any other technical discipline.
I can work equally well within a team or independently demonstrating both initiative and the ability to ‘think on my feet’.

Skills gained during my degree(s):
As well as the basic skills taught as standard in any degree course I have also learnt many specialist skills that are applicable to a variety of technical professions. I have gained experience of computer programming in FORTRAN90, Java, MATLAB and IDL (Interactive Data Language).
I have gained experience in the giving of power-point presentations, in addition to the more classical OHP approach, to both my peers and academic staff.

During my time at Glen Chantry I have gained experience with dealing with members of the public (both domestic and foreign) and liaising with other members of staff. In addition I have acquired numerous skills synonymous with the maintaining and running of a large, publicly recognised establishment. Such skills involve time management, being able to work independently using one’s own initiative, problem solving (both numerically and mechanically), working to high standards and precision, the ability to communicate ideas/instructions to other members of staff, the ability to take on leadership roles, working responsibly with, and in the presence of, hazardous materials.
