    Job Description


    Objectives:

    Support the D/EOP-GS Office (Department of Earth Observation Programmes- Ground Segment Strategy Office) for Networking activity in relation to the existing EOP Network and the different Missions under preparation or already under operations.

    The requested support covers the assessment, evolution and modification of the HiSEEN Network (High-Speed ESA Earth Observation Network), the iteration/integration with the DDS (Data Dissemination System), the support to the Network Operations for running services (e.g. ODAD-NS support), and assistance to new missions during the different planned phases with particular attention to the requirements phase.

     

    Position description:

     

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • - Elaboration and review of the EOP User Needs, preparation of Network requirements, and support during the different activity phases.
    • - Participation to the definition and the process of the EOP Network Strategic Plan.
    • - Participation in the Project and Service Review Boards to assist EOP in defining/improve the existing model.
    • - Support the migration to a multi-mission Network architecture (WAN and LAN), in compliance with the agreed Mission and System requirements, including security issues, and considering the internal and external interfaces.
    • Support EOP in the evaluation and preparation of the Network design in view of the upcoming missions to be supported and provide direction wherever required.
    • - Provide supporting analysis and documentation in the framework of international standardisation groups dealing with the EOP Network.
    • - Preparation of reports, procedure and other requested documentation.
    • - Participation and management of reviews and teleconferences, as needed.
    • - Presentations for project reviews, advisory meetings.
    • - Starting from HiSEEN available documentation, ODAD-NS Service description, QMS, definition of Evolution Activity and Solution of the different missions under preparation or under operations and Mission specific documentation, the expected deliverables are periodic reports, contribution to the different requested document (e.g. Network Requirements document, Network Implementation Plan), etc.
     


    Profile of the Consultant:

    Applicants should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in Telecommunication Engineering with experience in Operational Network services and Project Management.

    Candidates shall have a good understanding of IP Networks and services (e.g. e-mail applications, DNS), have familiarity with the latest generation of Network and Security methodology, and have knowledge of the research and education networks (e.g. Geant 2).

    Cisco and Checkpoints certifications (e.g. CCNP and CCIE) together with a general knowledge on EO missions are welcome.

     
    Previous experience working in a multinational environment is desirable.

     A good knowledge of the English language is required
