    Environmental Testing & Mechanical AIV

    Senior Mechanical AIV Engineer

     

    Work package Overview:

     

    The Contractor shall support ESA projects and related activities

     

    He (she) shall perform following tasks in the field of AIV (Assembly, Integration & Verification), including mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic testing, of satellite systems and sub systems:

     

    ·         Support Agency projects on AIV issues (definition, implementation, MGSE) including follow up of industry activities.

    ·         Support the customers of the Test Centre through all project phases, taking into account project requirements and performance of facilities.

    ·         Support projects with respect to model philosophy, planning, costing, risk assessment and test execution.

    ·         Perform critical analysis of proposed test matrix, in particular for early phases of the projects, with respect to realism of model and test philosophy, test planning and cost, and trade-off studies to reduce risks. These activities are often performed in the Concurrent Design Facility at ESTEC.

    ·         Support the implementation phases of the project in the area of testing by refining preliminary analysis, participating in the elaboration of procedures and specifications, monitoring the definition of the specific hardware, software and services necessary for the execution of tests and supporting the evaluation of test results.

    ·         Participate in formal project reviews and tender evaluation boards, usually in the AIV panel.

    ·         Participate in the development of new AIV tools, the preparation and implementation of investments and the documentation of procedures

     

    Loan Employment Specific Information:

     

     

    The contractor will report to the Head of the Test Support Section or to a manager assigned in the supported project.

    The contractor might need to go frequently on mission to test centers or satellite integration centers.

     

     

    • Location of work:   Noordwijk, Netherlands

     

    • Specific qualification requirements:

     

     

    The holder of the post will primarily contribute to the supervision of the mechanical AIT activities of the industrial consortium associated with the preparation and implementation of the Galileo IOV and FOC.

     

    In particular, the candidate will:

     

    1. Familiarize himself with the IOV and FOC functions by study of the relevant activities and by hands-on experience together with Industry.
    2. Interact with Industry for the definition and implementation of the IOV AIV activities including the MGSE as needed
    3. Interact with the Industry during the IOV (STM, SM, EM and PFM), FOC satellite level AIV activities, including MGSE procurement, as needed;
    4. Interact with Industry for the definition and implementation of the IOV/FOC subsystem PFM AIT activities as needed.
    5. Interact with the industry for the definition and implementation of the IOV launch campaign mechanical test activities.
    6. Participate to reviews and meetings as needed
    7. Work in close coordination with other project team members in the AIV, Platform, Payload and PA domain in order to ensure the timely and effective progress of the IOV and FOC AIV activities as needed
    8. Provide technical support in any other area of interest to the GALILEO project as it may become necessary
    9. Functionally report to the GALILEO AIV Manager
