Two plucky spiders on the international space station have bounced back from a tangled false start to weave amazing new webs in zero gravity, astronauts said Friday.
A massive ball of fire that lit up the skies over two Western Canadian provinces on Thursday evening was likely among the biggest meteor events to be witnessed in Canada this year, one expert said.
Japanese millionaire Daisuke Enomoto had planned to dress up as his favorite cartoon character in outer space and spent $21 million to make it happen. Now he claims the company that was supposed make his dream come true brushed him aside with little more than a "sorry, no refunds."
The most spectacular celestial sight during these final days of November is reserved for the early evening sky, as Jupiter and Venus, the two brightest planets, draw closer together.

Job Description
HE Space Operations is a steadily growing international space company. For over 20 years we have provided our customers with consultancy services in Engineering, Science and Business Administration. We open the door to working directly on-site with our principal customers in the space sector who rank among the top 25 engineering employers in Europe: EADS and the European Space Agency.
Activities:
The European Columbus laboratory was launched and connected to the International Space Station at the beginning of 2008. A team of some 80 scientists and engineers based at the Columbus Control Centre in Oberpfaffenhofen monitors on board systems and communicates with the ISS and ground controll centres in the United States, Europe and Russia. In your role as Product Assurance and Safety Support Engineer you will perform the following activities:
- Support of and advice to mission management in all aspects of human
spaceflight safety during preparation, performance and pst flight activities of
ISS missions with European participation
- Support of counter measures taking into account all safety aspects of the
crew in case of problems with the Columbus system, payloads or
experiments
- Documentation of problems and non -conformances
- Elaboration of improvement suggestions for future missions
Skills:
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics or any other related
subject
- Several years of experience as space systems engineer
- Several years of experience in space safety/payload safety engineering
aspects
- Kowledge of the ISS program, Columbus, payloads, experiments and related
management specifications
- Experience in payload operations
- Experience in project management and international management
- Ability to work in an integrated team
- Test and cerification experience with space projects
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English language and/or German language is mandatory
