    Job Description

    Aurora

    Aurora is an established and approved supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. There is a great opportunity to join the Aurora on-site team of 10 supporting ESA at ESAC, near Madrid, for the following work.

     

    Overview and Tasks

    A new member of the Mission Independent Group (MIG) for the solar system science operations division is required. The purpose of the MIG is to support the enhancement of the science operations framework for solar system missions in support of the Science Ground Segments (SGS), building on the existing infrastructure where possible. The MIG also advises the SGS of presently operating missions, in which capacity it adopts a coordinating rather than a governing role to avoid interference with mission-specific decisions.

    A summary of the work packages follows:

    • Work package #1: Support for modeling validation
    • Work package #2: Support for simulator validation
    • Work package #3: Quick-look analysis
    • Work package #4: Harmonise SGS activities for data validation assessment
    • Work package #5: Requirement Definition for Information Repository

    Specific qualification requirements

    The candidate should have a university background in a technical or scientific subject as well as science ground segment experience. In particular the candidate should have the following qualifications:
    • Knowledge of science operations on an ESA mission.
    • Experience with Quick Look Analysis software
    • Knowledge of instrument teams is an asset
    • Capability of writing clear and concise documentation is required.
    • The candidate should be fluent in English.

    All applicants must hold a valid passport from a country of the European Union and be legally able to work in Spain.

    Location

    The work will be performed at the ESAC, the European Space Astronomy Centre, at Villafranca del Castillo, near Madrid, Spain.

     

    Contract

    • We offer a permanent position.
    • You will be registered for both social security and tax in Spain.
    • The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 27 annual days holiday.
    • Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included.
    • Aurora can assist financially with relocation and provide useful information to working and living in Spain.
