    Job Profile:
    To act as member of New Service Engineering team responsible for the systems design of new managed end-to-end telecoms services, and for supporting their introduction into service. The role involves network systems design of telecoms services utilising a SatCom component, taking into account all aspects required to deliver the through-life managed service business case. In particular, the role will also involve taking a proactive systems leadership role at the integration, verification, and commissioning/acceptance phases as an internal virtual customer. The role will also be responsible for ensuring that new services can be supported/managed through their whole life cycle to optimise the business case for each project as well as helping to deliver the overall Telecoms Services operating plan over time.

    Qualifications and/or Skills
    Essential:
    Engineering graduate with at least a good second class degree, or equivalent.
    Able to specify services and decompose to real sub-system specifications.
    Able to trade-off capacity, latency, availability, QOS & Through-Life Cost-of-Service (COS)...
    Excellent personal time-management and prioritisation skills.
    Excellent documentation skills.
    Excellent Interpersonal skills - in particular, technical leadership of diverse skills of the internal and sub-contract personnel for a project.
    Excellent Problem Solving Skills.
    Business Proficient in particular, cost modelling for through-life costs ofservice.
    Commercially Proficient - for sub-contract commercial conditions, assisting Commercial Department to prepare NDA's, patents, sub-contract development agreements...
    Supportive in a Team environment.

    Desirable:
    Good communicator/systems leadership, would be highly desirable.
    Good working understanding of sub-tended networks and issues which might arise at our interfaces.
    Good Project Management skills

    Previous Experience
    Essential:
    At least five years industrial experience as a network systems engineer.
    Detailed technical knowledge, and first hand experience of, at least five of the following: MM-Wave & RF/Antennas/Propagation; RF Systems; IF/ADC/DAC up to and including MAC Layer & DSP; Wired Data Networks from Hardware/Systems; Crypto/Security; Packet switched Networking; Circuit switched Voice Networks & VoIP; Power systems including a safety and EMC perspective; Mechanical & Thermal Systems; Embedded & Real time Software with hardware high-speed digital awareness; Distributed Network Management, Databases & Billing; Network configuration control and network health/optimization; Service Orientated Architectures; Human Factors (HMI & Human centred design), Training Needs Analysis & Documentation (User & Support staff perspectives)

    Desirable:
    Broad understanding and awareness of: SatCom networks, in addition to as many of the above marked essential
