    Role
    The SCC Engineer will be a key member of a 24/7 support team for the Spacecraft Control Centres to provide a high system availability to the operations centre. The SCC Engineer will also assist in the development of the system to meet new emerging requirements.

    Duties
    Re-start subsystems to recover from failures
    Add, delete and configure user accounts on the system
    Investigation and rectification of issues and system problems raised.
    Offline development and implementation (in a specific test environment) of robust test procedures and scripts to evaluate system changes, fixes, and supplier delivered upgrades prior to operational deployment
    Planning and development of deployment and roll out plans for system upgrades enhancements and fixes.
    Perform routine data and software backup and archiving activities
    Perform equipment swap-out, reconfiguration and restoration where spares are available
    Perform general PC and server configuration and maintenance activities
    Ensure all changes to the system are implemented in accordance with software configuration management procedures.

    Skills & Experience
    The ideal candidate should have 3 5 years experience of working in a system administration, support or development role where high availability is a key operational driver.
    Key skill areas include the following:
    Operating Systems:
    Solaris 8 (and higher) (Essential)
    Windows 2000 (+ 2003 Server) (Desirable)
    Hardware (Administration & Maintenance)
    Software:
    Exceed 8 (Desirable)
    Windows SE (Desirable)
    The candidate should have good oral and written presentation skills as well as the ability to develop comprehensive test scripts and procedures for the validation and verification of software changes and upgrades prior to operational development and post deployment regression testing.

    Qualifications
    Degree qualification (or equivalent) in IT or software related discipline.
