    REDU SPACE SERVICES S.A. is a Belgium-based subsidiary of SES ASTRA TechCom, with minority participation of Verhaert Space (Belgium).
    With a total of about 40 employees in total in Redu, the consortium between SES ASTRA TechCom and Verhaert Space operates since 2007 the ESA Station located in Redu (Belgium). It is responsible for the end-to-end maintenance and operations of the Station on behalf of ESA, and of the proper performance of its ESA Missions (LEO Earth Observation satellite operations, Data Relay satellite operations, Satellite Commanding & Tracking activities, In-orbit Testing, Galileo …). Levering on the technical and business expertise of its parent companies, and on the existing resources of the Redu Station, REDU SPACE SERVICES is also aiming at developing new Redu-based services and operations with commercial and institutional customers.

    Context

    You are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Station infrastructure and technical staff, of the fulfilment of all tasks related to the maintenance and operations of the Station, and of the good performance of all missions the Station assumes on behalf of ESA and of third-party customers. In that responsibility, your function reports directly to the General Manager of Redu Space Services.
    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure Quality of Services delivery to ESA and to the customers by the Redu personnel in charge of the Maintenance & Operations of the Station (functions include engineering & operations, station support, as well as logistic services);
    • Be the single technical interface to the ESA Station Director and Operations Director for all day-to-day operational matters on the Station.
      Assume overall responsibility on their behalf to:
      • Drive the satellite operations teams & their operational activities;
      • Make sure that the ground systems operations are fully available to sustain the Station operational duties. Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on all station equipment;
      • Ensure that all necessary Operating & Maintenance procedures are available and up-to-date for the guidance of the maintenance personnel;
      • Provide equipment maintenance training to new maintenance personnel and cross-training as required.
    • Manage all suppliers and subcontractors in terms of technical performances;
    • Support from operational and technical standpoints the implementation of new Redu Space Services’ contracts brought up by the Sales team;
    • Assist the Redu Space Services’ General Manager in the daily management of the company, in order to ensure adequate corporate performance.

    Experience:

    • University degree in Satellite Telecommunications or equivalent;
    • Minimum 5 years experience in the Management & Operations of Satellite Ground Segments;
    • Ability to manage autonomously various functions & teams (satellite engineering & operations, ground engineering & operations, technicians, shift workers, Quality, …);
    • Effective communication as well as excellent team work skills, and proactive approach towards building strong team spirit;
    • Have solid analytical skills, self-starting qualities, coordination and priority setting abilities;
      Excellent People & Project Management skills;
    • Languages: French & English, any other language is an asset.
