You will be responsible for technical studies, specifications, concept engineering, and tests of advanced video & audio encoding systems, DVB and IP transport schemes and protocols, Service Information, Service Discovery and Selection Mechanisms, Service Presentation and Application Frameworks, IP based television platforms, IP network protocol aspects related to hybrid satellite-terrestrial platforms and Content Protection schemes. Emphasis is on high level, end-to-end and multiple layer aspects.
Responsibilities
Maintain awareness of techniques and systems in the areas of tele-vision broadcasting (advanced video and audio coding schemes such as H.264 / AAC /…; system protocol aspects related to MPEG / DVB / ETSI / IETF / ITU / OITF / DLNA / IMS... Standards; IP net-working)
Develop technical concepts for systems coupling traditional satellite broadcasting with IP access and in-home networks
Support the preparation of technical specifications and recommen-dations related to such systems
Provide engineering support to technical and non-technical entities of SES ASTRA and to others members of the SES group
Provide technical support to the development and introduction of new products & services
Actively participate in the work of international standardization or-ganizations
Experience / Qualifications
University diploma in telecommunications or related field
At least 5 years of professional experience in digital television
Good knowledge of DVB and ETSI television standards, experience in IP networking
Basic technical background of satellite telecommunications
Sound analytical skills, innovative mind, result orientation, abstraction skills, time management, problem solving, as well as the ability to provide practical conclusions
Ability to coordinate with business requirements and work both autonomous and in interdisciplinary teams
Fluency in English (any other language being an asset);
Good communication skills and team-spirit
Willingness to integrate into an international environment
