Initially, Iranian media said that the rocket put the nation's first home-produced communications satellite into orbit, but later reports maintained that the mission was merely a test of the launch vehicle.Iranian officials say a rocket launch last weekend was merely a test, but U.S. military intelligence officials now see it as a failed attempt to put a satellite in orbit.
