    Job DescriptionOur client is an international Commission in Vienna (working language English) which operates a global network of stations monitoring real-time seismic, hydroacoustic, infrasound (SHI), radiation, & atmospheric events. They wish to build a team to upgrade, maintain, support & document their software processing systems.

    Their datacentre operates world-wide computing networks using data processing software pipelines of automatic & interactive applications (mostly C, but including Fortran, Java, Shell scripts, Perl etc). Most are scientific, relying on numerical analysis methods, Oracle 9.2 data stores, & communicating processes (including Tuxedo 8.0). Currently the platform is Solaris 9 hosts with Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6 & X/Motif GUI, but will be ported to Linux over the next few years. Change/Configuration management uses Rational/IBM ClearQuest & Clearcase 2002.

    A skilled Technical Author is required to extend the Development/Test System Operators Guide (currently covering SHI software systems) to include operation of Radionuclide (RN) & Atmospheric Transport software processing systems. Working closely with Commission staff, you will describe/enhance descriptions, directory structure, operations overviews (including differences from Operational & Testbed systems), routine operational & monitoring tasks, typical problems & solutions, & interdependencies between the ATM, RN & SHI subsystems.

    This role will be half-time, & can be either based onsite in Vienna or off-site
