    Job Description

    Post Doctoral Researcher

    • Applicant: Individual researcher
    • Grant period: 24 months. The grant will start during the last six months of 2008.
    • Amount: Standard grant.
    • Cost categories: Salary costs.
    • The host institution will be a space research institute in Sweden and the research work, which will be carried out in Sweden under the supervision of a senior researcher in association with Space Technology Ireland, NUI Maynooth, will involve the analysis of planetary data coming from presently flying spacecraft.
    • The proposed research project may be different from the applicant’s previous research. Different means a new direction, new ways of thinking and/or new orientation of the research. The host insitution is prepared to advise the candidate on a suitable research program.
    • Applicants should in the first instance forward a CV describing their scientific qualifications together with a list of publications.  The final selection will be made by interview.

     

    Ph.D. Program

    • Applicant: Individual researcher
    • Grant period: 3-4 years. The grant will start during the last six months of 2008.
    • Amount: Standard grant.
    • The host institution will be a Max Planck Institute in Germany and the research work, which will be carried out in Germany under the supervision of a senior researcher in association with Space Technology Ireland, NUI Maynooth, will involve the analysis of lunar data coming from a presently flying spacecraft.
    • The successful candidate can either have a degree in physics or geology or geochemistry. Knowledge in the analysis of remote sensing data would be ideal.
    • Experience in programming (e.g. matlab) is expected.
    • Applicants should in the first instance forward a CV describing their scientific qualifications together with a detailed account of any project work performed.  The final selection will be made by interview.
