Serco is seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Information Specialist to support the Erasmus Centre. You will have excellent skills in relaying information in the form of Documents and Guides. You will also be highly skilled in Web updates and collection of scientific material to be used in the production of videos. Your main tasks are seen as: New spaceflight.esaint/users web site The first task is to look at is the upgrade of the spaceflight.esa.int/users web site. The ESA CMS content management system is the baseline and the new ESA Corporate identity applied. A creative contribution is required in the spaceflight.esa.int/users home page presentation in terms of both presentation and usability of the main EC core tools: Erasmus Experiment Archive, Streaming server, remote learning and ISS User Guide. From a content point of view, such pages need to be completed with up to date material: the main task of the candidate shall be to solicit and obtain the relevant reference material, filter it according to the criteria of relevance and homogeneity and shall have to present it in a good English: therefore often having to re-write it. Beside the compilation of the content, an innovative contribution is required for the way the information shall be linked together and in the way the new search tool (internal to EC pages) shall rank and present query results. European Users Guide For the third edition of the European Users Guide to Low Earth Orbit platforms, the candidate shall have to increase the knowledge already acquired by building the web pages mentioned above. A new editorial style is sought for both the paper and web version. User Documentation Access System The candidate shall use this application to get access to the existing documentation and once acquainted shall provide an update and make this application publically available. Knowledge of Intellectual Property issues shall be a major asset in this task. Mission Highlights broadcast The EC is producing a regular video production for distribution both via the internet (live and on-demand) and via broadcasting media (future plan): it consists of a 15 minutes video with a consolidated format based on an external presenter and some material shot on location or received from external archives. The main task of the candidate shall be that of collecting the relevant scientific material and conduct the archive researches together with the EC video producer in order to draft the first version of the script for the program. If suited to the task, the successful applicant could be taking over the role of the external presenter in the Mission Highlight programme. |

Qualifications and Requirements: |
|
Applicants require to have a degree in a Space related subject together with several years experience in the extraction and relaying of information to scientific and none scientific groups. You will have: Excellent computer skills to aid the generation of Documents, Guides and Fact Sheets Knowledge of Intellectual Property Right Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels You will be required to interact with the following groups: l the Erasmus Centre (EC) Manager, for priority assignment, activity planning and reporting; l the other scientist working in the EC, for the planning and sharing of the work related to content management within the Unit; l the EC graphical editor and IT coordinator, for the creation and maintenance of the EC web based applications; l the EC video producer for the multimedia productions to be realised or uploaded, i.e. EEA multimedia records l the EC visitors services responsible, for the re-organisation of the High Bay according to new narration paths to be developed in conjunction with the new exhibits being added in the exhibition room and their need to be visually explained; l with the Science Coordinators for Life Sciences and Material Sciences in HME-GA, for the compilation of the ISS Utilisation web pages and the EC support to external events; l with the ISS Mission Science Office and the Mission Ops personnel, as an up to date source of information relevant to all EC products; l with the HME project managers in charge of facilities or experiment development, for the compilation of Fact Sheets; l with external scientists that have experiments on one of the ESA HME platforms, to complement the information on the EEA; l with the User Support Operations Centre coordinators; l with the NASA and JAXA experiment database coordinators, to keep the EEA compatible with those applications and possibly expand the cooperation to other partner Agencies; l with the ESA contact point for the following sites: Kiruna (S), Kourou (Fr. Guyenne), Bordeaux (Fr), European Astronaut Centre (D) and the like in order to organise information gathering campaigns and filming sessions.
