The Senior Systems Engineer for Communications Systems Development is directly responsible to the Senior Manager, Communications Systems Development for carrying out technical studies, concept engineering, specification and tests related to RF and network aspects of enhanced satellite communications systems for broadband network access. Emphasis is on the introduction of new technologies.
- Maintain awareness of, study and evaluate new techniques and components for satellite based broadband systems (e.g. adaptive coding and modulation, performance enhancement proxies, spot beam satellites, installation aids). This includes market trends, competitive factors, customer requirements, standardisation, licensing and regulatory aspects;

Evaluate and customize application of equipment, technologies and systems (e.g. DVB-RCS, ASTRA2Connect, other VSAT systems, SCADA, VoIP) and support the preparation of corresponding concepts, specifications and recommendations to SES’ market partners;

Evaluate the impact of changes to the overall transmission system (satellite characteristics, cost saving aspects, interference) on existing services;

Provide engineering support to SES ASTRA functions, to SES as well as to its other Operating Entities on all aspects mentioned above;

Provide technical support to the development and introduction of new products & services;

Actively participate in and contribute to the work of international standardization organizations (e.g. ETSI, DVB, CENELEC);

Provide technical support to industry for the development of systems and components for transmission, reception and networking;
- University or engineering degree (e.g FH, TH, IST, BSc, MSc) in telecommunications or related field;

Knowledge of the technology, standards and market trends for satellite communications, satellite broadband, satellite broadcast, Internet;

In-depth knowledge of satcom equipment, RF technology, communication protocols, test equipment, wireless communication;

Background knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP), digital modulation, channel coding, signal processing;

At least 5 years of professional experience in some of the knowledge areas listed above;
