    Job Description

    The Galileo Project requires engineering support for monitoring and controlling the overall definition of the Galileo operations activities. The holder of the post will be in charge of coordinating the definition, preparation, testing, validation, and implementation of the Galileo flight operations, as required to meet the overall Galileo service requirements.

      

    Your Task

     We are looking for  

    • flight operations engineer

     to support ESA for the GALILEO program.

    He/she will coordinate the flight operations activities performed in the Galileo Control Centres (Oberpfaffenhofen and later in Fucino), ensuring that the proper operations concept and procedures are implemented. He/she will report to the Galileo Operations Manager of the Galileo System & Operations Project Team.

    The responsibilities of this post include in particular:

    -          Follow-up of the Spacecraft design and flight operations engineering activities, in particular for the areas where operations integration activities between space and ground are required.

    -          Follow-up of the GCS and GMS design for their impact on the flight operations engineering activities

    -          Follow-up of the flight operations preparation activities in the GCCs

    -          Coordination of the different parties participating in the corresponding Operations reviews and Progress Meetings.

    -          Close follow-up and quidance of the flight operations qualification activities, in particular operations testing and validation campaigns

    The candidate should be able to work independently. The detailed tasks will depend on the specific skills of the candidate.

     

     

     Your Profile

    University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.

    Significant experience in senior position for spacecraft flight operation related activities, with experience in management tasks, for example as deputy spacecraft operations manager.

    A proven experience in in a commercial/industrial environment is required.

    Experience related to developments in the Galileo project (GIOVE, IOV) will be considered an asset.

     

     Location

    Resident in ESTEC, the candidate will be required to travel to the Galileo Control Centres in Munich (DE), Fucino (IT), Madrid (SP) and other European sites. 

     

     Start

    Desirable start date is October 1st 2009.
