    Personal Narrative

    Over the last 20 years I have served within Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, a job in which I have deployed to many parts of the world.  For the first 3 years I worked as rifleman at 40 Cdo RM, but for the last 17 years I have been employed as a Signaller and have reached the rank of Sergeant.  A career that I have done to the best of my ability, in a confident and robust manner.  I have done my duties with willingness and courage, and using my knowledge and judgement to provide diligent and robust service to my superiors.

     

    Achievements & Awards

    • Development of SATCOM within 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines (3 Cdo Bde RM). 
    • Operational deployments with VSC 501(E) to Iraq on Op TELIC, were we were the first SATCOM detachment to cross the border into Iraq from Kuwait, to provide strategic communications for 3 Cdo Bde RM fly forward headquarters.
    • Afghanistan on Op JACANNA, were we support the collation forces with strategic re-link SATCOM.
    • In recent years my achievements have been with the development of REACHER within 3 Cdo Bde RM. 
    • Developed Vetting Security Clearance (Expires Jan 2017).
    • GSM, including two bars Northern Iraq & Southern Turkey and Air Operations.
    • Northern Iraq.
    • Queens Jubilee Medal.
    • LSGB (Long Service Good Conduct Medal).
    • Campaign Medal Op Jacanna and rosette.

    Current Employment

    My current job at 30 Cdo IX Gp RM, Comms Squadron is as the SATCOM Manager (Sgt RM) for both of the REACHER (RT 43/44) detachments.  I manage the development of SATCOM within 3 Cdo Bde RM, to help move the REACHER detachment forward and develop the services that we provide to 3 Cdo Bde RM and the wider Defence community.  While also liaising with Paradigm to provide a more robust and resilient service for both Paradigm and 3 Cdo Bde RM in the delivery of REACHER and all SATCOM services to Bde.
