Since Federico started his scientific education, he has never limited himself to the Italian scene but he has always looked at entire world scene as a big opportunity.
As he is an expansive person, the contact with different environments and cultures have always challenged him. He is interested in enlarging his vision on the world of both the society and the job of a foreign country. Nevertheless, he is interested in the possibility of learning and improving languages other than English and French.

Federico holds a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, final mark 110/110 cum laude, obtained at “Politecnico di Torino”. Federico has a good level of computer skills (languages C, C++, ADA, Fortran, HTML), and good experience with Windows, SOLARIS and LINUX operating systems.
Federico also has a very good experience with mathematical packages and visualization tools, like Matlab and STK. He used many Matlab tool packages as Simulink, Real Time Workshop, Control System toolbox and Statistic toolbox.
Federico already has hand-on experience in flight dynamics and control systems modelling and mission analysis thanks to his working experience as GNC engineer for the Italian launcher VEGA. During this working experience, he developed and maintained the complete 6DoF simulator of the VEGA LV and the data processing tools linked to the simulation results, he also worked in the definition and implementation in the flight program software, both as prototype in C and in ADA, of the GNC control law. He also had to write software documentation and monthly reports.
Federico is systems-minded and he has a good understanding of general space mission constraints (data, power, attitude, thermal etc), as well as of related spacecraft hardware and software. He has considerable initiative, a proactive attitude, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks.

Federico is the responsible of the Control System team; he coordinates a team of 10 engineers.
The team is involved both in the LV production (VEGA) and in the LV development (VEGA-C, VEGA-E, they will be launcher with increased capability), in the frame of the following activities:
Flight Program SW missionization, validation and verification (SWIL and HWIL);
LV control law (ACS and TVC) definition, implementation, tuning, validation and verification;
Technical specification definition of the under production and under development products;
Stages and PL separation system definition, validation and verification;
Development and maintenance of simulators and data processing tools.

Federico is the responsible of the VEGA mission preparation, he coordinates the team involved in the ACS and TVC tuning missionization and in all the mission analysis verification both SWIL and HWIL.
Federico is also the focal point of the inter-disciplinary team involved in the SW algorithms evolution for the VEGA-C (new launcher developed starting from VEGA but with bigger capability and mission flexibility).
From 02/2010 to 09/2013 Guidance Navigation and Control system analyst
Federico main activities and responsibilities are to develop simulation and data processing tools for the Guidance Navigation and Control system.
Federico was assigned to the optimization, upgrade and maintenance of the complete 6DoF simulator of the VEGA LV. That simulator is Matlab and Simulink based, the optimization work started with writing some S-function to substitute complex blocks group. The upgrade activities were mainly focused in add the possibility of multi-payload mission and in the use of different Flight Program SW.
Federico was also assigned to accomplish the task of developing and maintaining the data processing tools. Those tools are mainly based in Matlab and Simulink but also uses perl and HTML scripts. Those tools allow to convert ASCII, LACIS and txt data from different simulators in Matlab matrix and compare them. They also allow verify that the simulation results fulfil the requirements defined in the avionics specification of the LV.
Federico was also assigned to the development, tuning and implementation of the ACS control algorithm. The algorithm is written in #C language, all the development, tuning and stability tools are mainly based in Matlab and Simulink.
Federico was also one of the focal-point during the flight data exploitation, he developed the flight data analysis tool and follow all the GNC post-flight analysis.
Federico was very motivated and hard-working. He has a solid technical background and he was able to work autonomously already from the very first weeks. He participated in several meetings with GN&C experts from AVIO, ESA, ASTRIUM, ARIANESPACE and CNES, in which he contributed with his own ideas and opinions. Soon he produced a first SW prototype that was successively refined and that passed several validation tests with success.

Federico was a trainee. His main activities and responsibilities were to develop a Visual Basic tool to automatically perform all the brake system (for railway systems) calculations.
09/2009 – 02/2010 Brake system calculations
Federico had the task of design a tool that allows performing all the brake system calculations. That tool results were all the brake system performances in different conditions also degraded ones and the thermal condition during braking. That tool has been developed in Visual basic.
