    Title   Boundary layer investigation in Plasmatron at high heat flux conditions for high speed re-entry missions

    Description  We managed to enlarge the simulation capability envelope of the Plasmatron facility for extra-planetary re-entry missions, reaching the highest heat flux ever measured at VKI, and studying the boundary layer with  optical  diagnostic.

    Target of the internship was to create a technological database with the aim to implement the Lean Manufacturing in the production site, checking drawings and manufacturing cycles of all the part numbers made in the factory.


    2011    Internship  and  Master  Thesis, CIRA,  Italian Aerospace  Research  Center, Capua, IT. Object of the thesis was the optimization of testing experimental setup regarding optical instruments (thermo- cameras and pyrometers) in "SCIROCCO", the most powerful arcjet plasma wind tunnel in the world. We tested with success the innovative re-entry capsule IRENE, and we performed a thermographic analysis of the surface.
