WF 4), 3D Solid Modeller/CADD system.       I have also had training PTC’s Data management tools including Windchill, Pro-Interlink, Pro PDM and Pro-Project,  Pro-Engineer training included Systems Management, Advanced Modeling Techniques, Surfaces, Sheet Metal, Advanced Drafting Techniques and Standard Modeling and Drafting.     Feb 2007 –July 2011

    Mechanical Designer with COM DEV, Cambridge ON. In this position I was involved in the design of small satellites. The scope job includes mechanical design, drawing creation and checking of individual components as well as whole system and subsystem assemblies. These projects included the design of the mechanical components of the NTS satellite payload, AIM class satellite bus and its M3M SAT payload for the Canadian Space Agency.

    During this period, I was certified (ESA) component assembly and integration. Additionally I received Ontario certification as a health and safety representative and served on the facilities emergency response team.

    Feb 2007

    Proprietor; AM Mechanical Design. Mechanical design consultant for a short-term contract at Aiolos Engineering Corp. This contract involved the creation of 3D CADD models and related engineering drawings involving the design of automotive and aerospace wind tunnels.

    Jun 2002 Oct 2006

    Product (Engineering) Specialist in the Chest Freezer Business Unit with W.C. Wood Company Ltd. of Guelph, ON. In this position, working closely with engineers, quality staff and production managers, I was responsible for the day-to-day engineering of the production chest freezer lines. I was also responsible for product cost reduction programs, Interface with regulator agencies (UL, CSA, NOM), new chest freezer design and CADD modelling of production freezers. As part of this position’s function, I was responsible for testing (and provision of other department’s testing), integration and assembly of new components into existing production models. This included the procurement and fabrication of prototype parts, assemblies and systems as well as the online assembly design

    I have also been involved in the development of new products for the new product development group from conception through into production. Additionally I had previously taken on the responsibility for the administration of the company’s Pro/E software and CADD standards at its three Guelph manufacturing plants.

    Mar 1998 – Jan 2002

    AM Mechanical Design:  Contracted Senior Mechanical Designer with Indal Technologies Limited, Mississauga, ON. In this position I was responsible for the layout, design and production of drawings for both heavy and flight rated equipment used to interface naval helicopters and shipboard landing systems. The scope of this work included functional component & system design, selection of materials, manufacturing processes and surface treatment consistent with both helicopter and naval applications. Designs were completed to Aircraft Flight Specifications, ASME Y-14 (M) and other Military specifications.

    Feb 1997 –Mar 1998

    AM Mechanical Design:  Contracted Senior Mechanical Designer with Spar Aerospace Limited, Advanced Technology Systems Group of Brampton, ON. In this position I was responsible for the layout and design of advanced robotics and space equipment used on the space shuttle arm, the international space station. Other projects include layout of equipment for a nuclear reactor and integration of military systems. One of my achievements in this position was the successful design, development and prototyping of a compact robotic manipulator for use in space. This resulted in a patent Spar Aerospace.

    Apr 1996 – Feb 1997

    Product Quality Engineer with Garland Commercial Ranges of Mississauga, ON.  In this position I was responsible for day-to-day engineering across many commercial cooking product lines produced in this facility.  Responsibilities included monitoring of purchased part quality and implementing product improvements of existing product line. I monitored compliance with CSA & CGA standards. One of my achievements in this position was the successful transfer of a complete line of commercial broilers from the USA into the Mississauga facility. I was also responsible for design and fabricating various prototype components.

    1995-1996

    Designer with Mold-Masters Limited of Georgetown, ON.  In this position I was responsible for developing generic CADD models to be used to produce engineering drawing as an output of an EXPERT software program. The CADD models produced using Pro/Engineer were created to be flexible enough to cover all product line and incorporate many configuration options.  Mold Masters produces special tooling for the plastic injection molding industry.

    1987-1995

    Lead Designer and Senior Mechanical Draftsman with the Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Departments of Inglis Limited.  In this capacity I was responsible for the design, CADD modeling and preparation of drawings of components of refrigerators, ranges, trash compactors and bottled water coolers.  During this period I also received training in Advanced Project Management techniques, Failure Mode Analysis and Engineering Work Flow. I was the Canadian representative on Whirlpool Corporate Standards Committee, sitting as a general member and as one of five members of a Senior Representatives Group.  We established corporate wide CADD standards for Pro/Engineer software usage and UNIX workstation operation.

    1979-1987

    Contract and full time positions as a designer and project manager in various industries including industrial water treatment systems, steel mill equipment and metal forming machinery (both high production and custom machinery environment).

    1976-Present

    Rank of Major in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves.  My current temporary position is that of Acting Commanding Officer, 31 Service Battalion. My normal position is that of Officer Commanding, Headquarters Detachment; Hamilton. My responsibilities include overseeing the management and supervision of the battalion’s administrative, operational and training activities (approximately 110 persons). I am the battalion’s senior instructor on maintenance and logistics. My current focus is the development of the battalion’s operational policies for transportation & maintenance and in the past managing it’s almost one million-dollar budget.  Other optional employment has included full time postings to Europe, Whitehorse, in addition to my normal one night a week training
