    My function is Quality Manager for Design & Development and Quality System Manager. Within the scope of my function I have been appointed as project manager for some internal projects, such as the implementation of the ISO/IEC 15504 / SPiCE.

     

    Main responsibilities:

    As Quality Manager for Design & Development:

    ·         Definition and implementation of a framework for Quality Assurance based on the ISO 15504/SPiCE. This standard is identical to the SPiCE for SPACE and includes engineering, management and support processes. These processes are applied for new product development projects at system and software levels.

    ·         Review and continuous improvement of the development process and some supporting processes such as project management, configuration management, problem resolution and change management.  Some achievements of this project are:

    • New structured approach to define and analyze system and software requirements with a specific tool, establishing traceability at different levels such as between customer needs and system requirements.
    • Definition and implementation of a Configuration Management Process based on the requirements of the SPiCE process SUP.8 Configuration management, and the ECSS-M-40B Space project management – configuration management standard. The output work products of this project were: process, guidelines, template for a configuration management plan, and template for configuration status accounting report.
    • Definition and implementation of a Problem Resolution Management and Change Management processes, including the development of an application with Clear Quest.
    • Higher levels of reuse of previously developed software (including requirements, design, code and tests cases).
    • Reduction of problems (system and software defects) and earlier detection.

     

    ·         Planning and execution of internal SPiCE assessments at capability level 2, and planning and monitoring of improvement action plans. Support to external SPiCE assessments.

    ·         Definition of Quality Assurance Plans for new projects during the feasibility analysis, and support to the development teams during the full product and process development life-cycle.

    ·         Planning, execution and reporting of the results of the Quality Gates during the development life-cycle. These Quality Gates include: the APQP phases and SRR (system requirements review), PDR (preliminary design review), CDR (critical design review, QR (qualification review) and SYSQR (system qualification review).

    ·         Provide training about process approach and training about specific processes such as: feasibility, product development (which includes software development), quality assurance, configuration management, problem resolution management and change request management.

     

    As Quality System Manager:

    ·         Ensure that international standards and customer internal standards are respected, and that our Quality System is aligned and consistent with those requirements. The international standards implemented at Cobra are the following: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 19011, ISO/IEC 15504 (SPiCE) and ISO WD 26262 Functional safety for automotive (on-going).

    ·         Planning and execution of internal ISO/TS 16949 audits. In 2010 I and my team have performed internal audits to the main office in Italy, covering all company processes, as well as to our office at Beijing.

    ·         Preparation and execution of the Quality Management System Review (twice a year) with the top management, where the results of the key performance indicators (KPI) are analyzed and new targets are defined.

    ·         Preparation and execution on suppliers’ audits using the VDA 6.3 standard. These audits have been mostly performed in Asia. In 2010 I have conducted the following suppliers’ audits:

    • Murata (digital electronic transducers)– Japan and Thailand
    • Nippon Ceramics (digital electronic transducers) – Philippines
    • Hyunbo (painting and EOL testing) – South Korea
    • Chengdu (analog transducers) - China

    ·         Monitoring of the status of NC (non-conformities) and participation in the creation of the 8-D reports and Ishikawa analysis. Follow-up of the implementation of preventive and corrective actions.

    ·         Participation in the FMEA teams, both at product and process level (DFMEA, PFMEA).

    ·         Implementation of workshops to help process owners improving their processes and defining new KPI (key performance indicators).

    o   March 2006: certification achieved for CMMI (capability maturity model integration) maturity level 3 for software and system engineering.

    o   April 2006: certification achieved for the AS/EN 9100 and 9006.

    o   Maintenance of the SPiCE for SPACE certification.

     

    ·         Definition of a configuration management strategy and environment aligned with the SPiCE for SPACE standard.

    ·         Planning and conduction of internal audits, including SPiCE (ISO/IEC 15504) and CMMI with a focus on process improvement.

    ·         Allocation as project manager to an external project in Madrid, with the purpose of setting up a Project Control Office to monitor the progress of an average of 20 IT projects. The chosen technique was the EVM (Earned Value Management), using metrics such as: planned value (PV), actual cost (AC) and earned value (EV), schedule variance (SV) and cost variance (CV).

    ·         Allocation as project manager to an external project in Lisbon, with the objective of setting up a framework to monitor and improve the levels of help and service desk. The approach chosen was to use concepts and best practices from ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
