    Independent Research and Development Department

    • Lead engineer for spacecraft modeling, simulation, and resource prediction.
    • Developed suite of tools used for spacecraft mission operations planning, stowage and CG tracking, and trajectory analysis.
    • Provide consulting services to Orbital Science Corporation for their Cygnus spacecraft.  Performed an assessment of their flight design system for far field rendezvous and spacecraft disposal.  Provided assistance on development of debris catalog and algorithms for computing debris footprints to satisfy range safety requirements.
    • Assembled spacecraft attitude, communication, lighting, and solar-array power generation models for the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) and International Space Station (ISS).   CEV models were a central part of mission feasibility studies for Lockheed Martin.
    • Created simulation to generate predicted ground station communication coverage for a satellite constellation.  Incorporated into proposal to USAF 22ndSpace Operations Squadron.
    • Developed lunar base simulation to predict communication coverage between a lunar base at the moon’s south pole and the Deep Space Network on Earth.  Additionally, determined effectiveness of relay satellites in lunar orbit to maximize communication coverage.
    • Originated requirements and built prototype for trajectory analysis tool that included processors for launch window determination, orbit determination, rendezvous targeting, re-entry targeting and debris footprint.
    • Designed real-time 3D model visualizations to work with the stowage and CG tool.
