To Whom It May Concern:
I write today to introduce myself and express my interest joining the team seeking the Systems Engineer position. Currently, I am a Systems Engineering working for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics on the JSF program in Sustainment Systems Engineering Analysis. I am also pursuing my master’s degree in Systems Engineering from Southern Methodist University graduating May of 2012. Unfortunately, unforeseen JSF program cuts have affected my team’s budget removing much of my teams tasking. Although I am disappointed with the misfortune, I see this as an opportunity to follow my passions in spaceflight and bring my talents as young experienced systems engineer to an exciting team. In the following I will describe my experience, education and why would be a great addition to the team.
Through my positions at Lockheed I have had the opportunity to learn many ins-and-outs of many facets to systems engineering through the programs and tasks I participated in. I have had the opportunity to experience development, design, life cycles, upgrades and modifications in dynamic, challenging aerospace programs. As a college student I was granted opportunities to develop a strong foundation in systems engineering at NASA and Avidyne gaining tremendous experience in system analysis, testing, human systems integration, verification, and validation through programs in all stages of maturity.
At the University of Texas I focused my engineering studies in spaceflight courses primarily in the areas of orbital mechanics and systems engineering design. Soon after starting full time, I enrolled in Southern Methodist University’s Masters in Systems Engineering program taking coursework in areas of human systems integration, risk, reliability, analysis and engineering probability and statistics. You will find that I have a very likable personality, which quickly builds strong relationships allowing me to hit the ground running, utilizing my very quick learning ability to mastering new systems and become a valued team member fast. In my work experiences I have proven the ability quickly rise to the head of the class leading my peers to achieve objectives exceeding of expectations.
As I have outline above, I believe that my analytical skills, practical experiences and engineering background would make me a valuable addition as a systems engineer. I welcome the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications.
