Masters thesis
title Evolutions of Vortex Flow Control Design - (Grade: 1st)
supervisor Dr. Gavin Tabor
description Combined with growing levels of urbanisation, drainage networks are under greater strain from increased volumes of surface run-off. A stormwater management device known as the Hydro-Brake Vortex Flow Control was investigated. This device acts as a throttle by inducing a vortex within the flow through a drainage network. Through the application of Computational Fluid
Dynamics and experimental investigation, the current design of the Hydro-Brake was modified and tested in order to optimise and improve it’s current design.
