March 2012 - now: Working at the Control Systems Division in the Guidance Navigation and Control Section at the European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC). Main responsibilities and involvement briefly listed hereby:
Engineering support to the section activities with industry for what concerns proposal evaluation,reviews and testing/acceptance of product deliveries.
Responsible for the Real-Time Avionics tests-bed for GNC algorithms validation and verification. The test-bed, features representative flight hardware and communication interfaces such as LEON2 processor, Spacewire and MILS-STD-1553. It aims at providing support to ESA projects during the validation and verification activities of (new) GNC algorithms while running on a fully representative hardware/software environment.
Engineering support to JUICE mission(phase A) for what concerns mission analysis and trajectory optimisation aspects to better define the mission phases and better characterise the radiation environment in close vicinity to Jupiter. Coordination between the agency and the prime contractors during requirements definition phase.
GNC systems analysis support for CDF mission studies.
February – August 2011 : Internship for the conclusion of the Masters thesis in Aerospace Engineering at the European Space Agency ESA/ESTEC. Design, development, test and validation of an Attitude Dynamics Module for a space mission trajectories analysis tool. The software was developed using C++ language under the Qt development platform. Throughout all the phases of the project. ECSS standards were used as a reference for documentation. This work served as input to the ESA's Coordinate System Handbook.
2005-2009 Attendance of the Integrated Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering. Principal subjects: Aerospace Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. During the Masters the disciplines included, amongst others: applied physics, mathematics and mechanics, computer sciences, fluid mechanics, aerospace structures, project management and aerodynamics.
October 2012: Automatic code generation for C/C++ and HDL from Matlab Simulink: On-site even for modelling and simulation of safety critical applications and automatic code generation. The course focused on the advanced features for automatic code generation using Matlab and Simulink and on the techniques to verify and validate the implementation of safety-critical applications.

March 2012: Modelling and Development of Real-Time Systems: The course used an ESA product called TASTE as real-time systems modelling and development tool. The tool uses heterogeneous hardware and software components to build larger embedded systems automating and assisting during the integration process.
