    Thesis Title: Solitons and Volume Preserving Flow

    Supervisor: Prof. P. M. Sutcliffe

    Thesis introduces volume preserving flow, a modified gradient flow which preserves given global quantities which can be written as a function of the local density. This flow is used to model minimal surfaces using domain wall networks - the flow preserves the volumes bounded by the surfaces. Volume preserving flow is also used to compute static solutions to scale invariant field theories without relying on any symmetry arguments.

Whilst at Nottingham I founded the University darts team and I Captained Durham University team. This gave me the opportunity to organise the first Durham Premier League Darts championship. I enjoy cycling and have taken part in several charity bike rides (fortunately the other participants always seem prepared to wait for me). I am regular member of a pub quiz team and enjoy taking part in quizzes, not only as a contestant, but also as an occasional quiz master.
