     Seeking a challenging and technically oriented position in order to provide diversified instrumentation, calibration, and metrology knowledge and experience to make a positive contribution towards advancement of the company. 

     

    Work Summary and Duties

     

    Calibration Engineer - United Space Alliance Shuttle Calibration Lab, KSC, FL   1997- 07/ 2011

        Developed, validated, and documented end to end testing processes for mechanical and electromechanical Instrumentation, measuring and test equipment, analytical, safety, diagnostic instruments, transducers, and transmitters.

    Evaluated specifications, performed system component research and total design of test process.  Initiated procurement of standards with justification, created detailed calibration procedures including pictures, drawings, safety requirements and personal protective equipment. Evaluated test results using statistics and control charts, Assessed downstream impacts of process measurement errors, and out of tolerance conditions. Also determined measurement uncertainty/ reliability, and monitored traceability.  Conducted problem solving/ troubleshooting, and continual process improvement. Created work and preventative maintenance instructions and conducted training. Estimated the economics of instrument repair vs replacement.  Audited Lab processes for compliance with safety requirements, operating procedures, and quality assurance plan.  Advised customers regarding proper use of equipment and new equipment purchases.  Provided engineering oversight for precision clean lab operations.

     

    Chemical Waste Handler - United Space Alliance, KSC                                        2007- 07/2011

      Point of contact for the handling/disposal of hazardous wastes generated in the Calibration Lab.  Ensured chemicals/ containers were properly labeled and stored. Managed / inspected chemical storage sites and maintained inspection logs, verified chemicals wastes/ containers were properly labeled and disposed of per EPA and DOT regulations. Conducted safety inspections and initiated correction action. Managed POL storage cabinets to maintain compliance with NASA and company safety operating procedures.

     

    Mechanical Calibration Lab Lead – United Space Alliance, KSC                            2000 - 2004

      Coordinated Lab work scheduling, directed technician’s assignments, and other activities to meet customer needs and comply with company operating procedures. This was in addition to above Calibration Engineering duties.

      

    Calibration Technician – The Bionetics Corp, Shuttle Calibration Lab, KSC           1990 - 1997

      Tested and calibrated mechanical and electromechanical measuring and test equipment, performed troubleshooting, and assisted Engineering in procedure development. Majority of work was with flowmeters, pressure gages and transducers, torque, and force.

     

    Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician                                                         1985 - 1990

      Subcontractor for The Multi-Amp Corp, Dal., Tx in the calibration labs at Crystal River (FL)  and Beaver Valley (PA) nuclear power plants. Calibrated a variety of test equipment and process instrumentation as well as developed calibration procedures.

     

     Test Equipment Inventory Controller and Calibration Technician                             1983 – 1985

    Tracked inventory location of all test equipment at various Multi-Amp jobsites around the country, generated recalibration orders. Also, calibrated and troubleshot test equipment and wrote cal procedures at the Multi-Amp Corp. plant in Dal., TX.
