    EDUCATION
2008-2012 MSc. Space Engineering, Delft University of Technology, Delft.
    Specialization ‘Orbits and Missions’
    Final grade 8/10

MSc. thesis ‘Interplanetary trajectory design using Dynamical Systems Theory’.
Analysis and simulation of manifolds in coupled circular restricted three body problems, to find energy efficient trajectories for interplanetary space flight.
During my MSc. thesis I contributed to the Technical University Delft’s Astrodynamics Toolbox ‘Tudat’. This is a collection of functions written in C++ to be used in astrodynamics research and simulations. More information can be found on tudat.tudelft.nl.

The MSc. curriculum consists of a core with general space engineering courses, a profile program with courses concerning astrodynamics and mission design, and elective courses on:
    -Precise orbit determination
    -Orbit optimization
    -Optimal control theory

2004-2009 BSc. Aerospace Engineering, Delft University of Technology, Delft.
Three year basics in (aerospace) engineering, with a minor in Earth and Planetary Observation. The minor especially focuses on observational instruments, data analysis, planetary sciences and case studies. The two case studies of choice concerned the technology and future of solar sailing, and the contribution of satellite data to atmospheric models.

The BSc. was closed off with a Design Synthesis Exercise ‘Discover Ganymede’ with a focus on systems engineering and space mission design. During 10 weeks, a group of ten students conceptually designed a satellite mission to the Jovian moon Ganymede, fulfilling constraints on amongst others cost, time and scientific goals.

    1998-2004 Atheneum, Merewade College, Gorinchem
    Pre-academic education.

Major ‘Nature and Technology’,  consisting of:
    -Mathematics B 1,2

Simulation tool in MATLAB/Simulink for simulation of planetary observation missions and output on orbit and observation characteristics. Working independently, defining  the set-up of the tool based on requirements from the faculty. Writing all functions and documentation. Presenting the tool to the faculty.

    2009-2010 Dutch Space, Leiden.
    October 2009 to February 2010.
Evaluation of the Generic Guidance Navigation and Control Simulation Environment (GGNCSim), to be used in the development, verification and operation of any GNC application. Functions for this tool are written in C and used in MATLAB/Simulink. My task was to identify weak spots and possible applications, as well as to get hands-on experience through the addition of different magnetosphere models ( and other functions needed for their implementation ) to the simulator and the translation of these models from FORTRAN to C.
