    from July 2003 to may 2011 CEO of BIP ITALIA, originally incorporated as sales agent and regional technical advisor. A large portfolio of specialized equipment was promoted to the Italian and foreign customers, like turbo coded satellite modems, low to high power solid state transmitters on Ku band, small to medium size parabolic antennas.

    During this period a very well equipped electronic measurements laboratory was acquired to support all the specialized requirements from customers, providing prototyping services, measurements, certifications and repairs.

     

    Since Nov 2001 to may 2003 as CTO at NSI (Network Satellite Italia spa) and NTI (Network Teleport Italia spa) based in Venice, as well as MTI and VTI teleports In Milan and Padua.

    Three satellite telecommunication teleports were managed in Genoa, Milan and Padua as Operations' Director during the design and realization phases.

    Satellite video broadcasting and two way IP networking solutions were deployed.

    Participation to the executive administration and shareholders board of the two companies, and to the executive board of the two Teleports.

     

    Years 1999 to 2001 as Space Underwriter for Generali Global UK in London (UK) the space insurance business branch of Assicurazioni Generali in Trieste (IT).

    • The technical risk assessment and policy underwriting and wording were the two main duties with a joint signature capability up to 30MUS$ for a single risk.

    • I managed a technical database of all the failure and malfunctions of in orbit satellites and launch vehicles to help the risk assessment using cross-correlated informations. The result was used by the European Space Agency to establish the technology failure-rate trend of the '90s.

    • Participation as technical expert to the board of the Space Risk Study Group into the International Union of Aviation Insurers (I.U.A.I.) as representative of Generali Global UK.

    • Participation to the executive board of shareholders at INTOSPACE as representative of Generali Global UK shares.

    • Space risk panel speaker and Generali Global organization core team of the International Space Risk Conference held in Rome in 2001.

     

    Years 1984 to 1999 as System Engineer at Alenia Aerospazio spa (now THALES):

     

    • during 1998 to 1999 as launch team electrical test conductor for the GLOBALSTAR constellation program, where more than 60 satellites were launched from Cape Canaveral and Baikonur using DeltaII, Soyuz and Zenit launch vehicles.

    • Design and supervision of all the umbilical interconnections at the launch site from the payload dispenser (satellites) via the rocket launcher, the launch pad up to the control room.

    • Boeing Delta launch platform licensed security escort for all the technical activities on the Cape Canaveral launch pads tower facilities.

    • Satellites' preparation and electrical pre-launch tests at ASTROTECH (Titusville FL) during the DeltaII launches.

    • Satellites' preparation and electrical pre-launch tests at SOYUZ-Starsem (Baikonur) during the Soyuz launches.

    • Satellites' preparation and electrical pre-launch tests at YUZNOYE (Baikonur) during the Zenit launch

     

    From 1997 to 1998 electrical system engineer at Space System Loral (SS/L) in Palo Alto CA as chief designer of the interconnection harness on board the GLOBALSTAR satellite.

    This duty was successfully accomplished obtaining a 'Zero Defect' production and test of the designed harness, including all the units ICD and power distribution. More than 60 satellites were produced and successfully tested.

     

    From 1989 to 1997 as Automatic Test Equipment system engineer. During this duty I've managed the design and the integration and test of several equipments used on multiple space programs:

    • X-SAR (a three mission joint space experiment of a synthetic aperture imaging radar aboard the NASA Space Shuttle, managed by Jet Propulsion Laboratory NASA/JPL, German Space Agency DARA/DLR and Italian Space Agency ASI). Flights STS-59 and STS-68, plus STS-99 as Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) project. For this mission a complete microwave test equipment was requested by DORNIER and designed to simulate the radar echoes as well as giving a precise and stable timing reference to the on board electronics installed to the Shuttle cargo bay experiment.

    • ARTEMIS test equipment, power and radio frequency test systems.

    • ITALSAT and OLYMPUS satellites test equipments for integration and test.

    • HIPPARCOS, METEOSAT, GOES-H, HELIOS, NAHUEL, SICRAL1, INTELSAT-V, CASSINI and other programs were supplied with specialized test-beds or SCOE (Specialized Check Out Equipments).

     

    From 1994 to 1997 as radio frequency chief test engineer of all the radio frequency units produced by Alenia Aerospazio (formerly Selenia Spazio, now Thales)

     

     

    Years 1981 to 1983 as chief special system designer at Chemila srl (part of the SERONO – Biodata pharmaceutical group) to design and develop a complete test setup of Radio Immune Assay method. In this duty I developed a new integrated gamma-ray detector with the partnership of Teledyne Isotopes (Westwood NJ) and EG&G-Instrument (Italian branch). Several computer controlled machines for the entire automation of the assay method were designed and produced, placing Chemila company as a competitor of worldwide known companies like LKB-Wallac and Packard-Bell.

     

    Years 1978 to 1980 as design technician at SERO spa (Roma), designing microwave communication Radio Relay Links and electronic countermeasures (ECM-ECCM) for warfare radar systems.

     

     

     

    OTHER EXPERIENCE:

     

    Years 1995 and 1996 as technical expert teacher at Professional High School of L'Aquila and Giulianova institutes, where I've teched computer aided design techniques and computer automation/robotics. The sponsorship was the European Community Funds (FSE).

     

    Year 1994 as external consultant for the Electric Energy Engineering department of the L'Aquila University, developing a laser interferometric vibroaccelerometer. The result was a technical paper publication of Prof. G. D'Emilia on Science and Measurement magazine.

     

    Years 1992-1994 consultant for Pirotecnica S.Chiara (AP) developing a safe method to produce pyrotechnical effect compounds and professional firework components. An automated computer controlled firing system was designed to drive music-synchronous fireworks displays.

     

    Years 1991 and 1992 part-time troubleshooter of automatic production machines, like hydraulic/fluid and air driven mechanism, closed loop actuators and PLC interfacing.

     

     

     

    GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Deep knowledge of electronic professional instrumentation, reference measurements and standards.

    • Very good knowledge of telemetry systems, control systems, automation processes, data acquisition systems.

    • Good knowledge in high risk and hazardous processes, like radioactive material handling and radiation hazard measurements, toxic fuel transfer techniques, pyrotechnic compound handling/production (Italian Government Licensed Operator by the commission of arms and explosives).

    • Deep knowledge of mechanical machining processes and automation, like drilling-milling-lathing-grinding, including gas, arc TIG and MIG welding and plasma and water metals' cutting.

    • Good knowledge of electronics circuit, design, test and troubleshooting. Radio frequency circuits and Radio-rigs.

    • Good knowledge of computer aided design packages, as well 3D drawings, office automation, databases, CAM etc.

     

     

     

    EXTENDED KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Italian and British RED-Cross licensed firs aider (BLS-D) for Basic Life Support and CPR, defibrillator operator. Fire and rescue team volunteer (two degrees by the Italian government forest's corp).

    • CSEN-CONI licensed trainer as Athletic Trainer, Chinesiologist, Wellness Trainer, Applied Kinesiology (IKC 2nd level) and specialized gym for heart diseases and spine scoliosis.

    • Student of three years course of Osteopathy (first year accomplished) at Natural Discipline Academy.

    • Student of three level Ayurvedic Treatment Operator (two levels accomplished) at Atharva Veda school.

    • Pipe organ restoration, design, and manufacturing story.
