    MSEE Telecommunications Engineer, by Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (1994). This year, he started his professional career at the Spanish Army as Second Lieutenant developing an application to control the position and shoot parameters of 15 34 cannons to be used as a backup for the conventional shooting systems. In 1995 Sebastian joined IBM Valencia Product Development Centre (now Celestica Valencia, one of the biggest EMS companies) where he developed his professional career over 12 years working in different positions all of them oriented to the electronic design and test optimisation for high volume manufacturing and manufacturing added values services. After a long training period as electronic design engineer, purchasing engineer and new product introduction project manager he became New Technologies Project Manager where he managed several project at European and National Level, including one year assignment in San Diego (US). In 2005 he became Director of Design & Engineering Services Business Unit reporting directly to the Corporation headquarters in Toronto, being this year the Corporation most profitable Design and Engineering Services business unit. 

    In 2007 he joined DAS Photonics as Chief Technology Director, working in several international projects for ESA, EDA, ESO and the European Commission. In addition he has been working on the implementation of ISO9001:2008 and AQAP2110 certifications at DAS Photonics, being the product assurance manager for the space and Ministry of Defence programs, developing all the design and manufacturing processes, being the Purchasing and Operations director, starting the company internationalisation network and finally being the responsible for the Space commercial division. Currently, he works as Research and Development Manager.

    In addition, since 1999, he works as an expert for the European Commission for IST and Euripides programs. He was also working in the creation of the Photonics Spanish Technology Platform (Fotonica21), during two years running the platform Secretary.

      

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

     1999-Today: Evaluator for the Framework Program of the European Community for IST research and for EURIPIDES cluster.

     2007-today: DAS Photonics, working in several positions and finally as R&D Manager. Working on several projects for ESA and defense agencies.

The results of these projets were the development of DVB-S/C/T set top boxes, interactive applications based in OpenTV and Own API development. This project started in San Diego (USA) and the working group was formed by 9 ISDC engineers, 4 from IBM and 12 from MSL. (1998-2001).
    • Project Manager of a R&D project with public funding (inside the 1996 Technology Plan): ‘Design of a multipurpose Control ASIC’, the working group was formed by seven professors of the University of Valencia and five engineers from CELESTICA. The technology used was 0.7 mm CMOS with 2 metals.
    • Electronic design cost reduction in order to get additional manufacturing opportunities. As a consequence of this work I write the following documents: ‘CELESTICA Design for Manufacturing Guidelines’, ‘MSL Design for Testability Guidelines’, ‘Technology changes, from PIH to SMT’ and ‘Uses of ASICs and FPGAs for Cost Reductions’. For this work I’ve the collaboration of the Marketing and Engineering Department of all the MSL facilities (USA, Ireland, Singapur and Valencia).
    • Design engineer in projects of fleet positioning using GSM (SMS) /GPS Systems.
    • Design of ‘Portable Equipment for Car Traffic Information in Valencia City’. Using RDS coding.
    • Co-director of 4 final university projects in ETSIT- Polithecnics University of Valencia.

      

    1995-96: IBM Product Development Centre.

     

    • Designing digital and analog circuits. Such as, a system to control distributed sensors in a car environment following ISO 7637.
    • Real Time System program, such as, software to control an Electronic Coin Unit used in Multimedia Kiosk for Spanish (Correos) and German (Deuche Bundespost) Postal Services.
