My role as an engineer was also customer service orientated. This involved communicating with customers (by phone, e-mail, fax and post) to set budgets, advise on turnaround and solve technical problems. In the last three years I also managed the training of other engineers, new apprentices and people on work experience placements on many ranges of equipment. In my final year I was involved in re-writing and updating HTBasic and HPVEE routines for IEEE488 based automated test software.

Working in a clean room environment, I was responsible for test and diagnostics of RF sub-assemblies, using state of the art test equipment, (Network Analysers, Spectrum Analysers, Oscilloscopes, Phase Noise Measurement Systems, Special To Type Test Equipment) in accordance with strict procedures, ensuring all documentation and databases (including SAP) were kept up to date. Also assembling and commissioning test rigs.

Working on day and night shift I was responsible for stage and final testing of aircraft antennas, including tuning and fault finding. Also producing test reports and keeping the appropriate databases and documentation up to date.

Manufacturing Test Technician
I am responsible for testing and tuning RF/microwave sub-assemblies working on projects such as Alphasat and AIS. Also processing results data in spreadsheets/MATLAB where appropriate.
Many areas of electronics and IT interest me, as well as music, history, photography, cooking, socialising and travelling. I have also recently started to study French again and am undertaking a photography course.
