Work Experience
EUMETSAT (Germany) – Mar/2010 – Current
I am currently working at EUMETSAT as Network Consultant (Contractor). New Space programs (GMES) are under development by European Space Agency (ESA). I am involved in the analysis, requirement gathering, design & implementation of IP Network and security related services for multiple projects at the EUMETSAT Data Center in Germany.
I am involved in number of projects which are associated with the development of the new data centre, design & implementation of campus MPLS based backbone network, as well as upgrading, designing and implementation of network service for new and existing systems. My current responsibilities includes producing network design, IP network implementation & upgrades on Multi Mission network services, reviewing network and technical documents produced by internal and external bodies, as well as participating in the internal & external meetings.
All of my above activities are surrounded by state of the art hardware and technologies such as, 6500 and other lower end switches, FWSM, ASA firewalls, NEXUS, Load balancers - hardware based (Cisco ACE) - software based (BalanceNG), supporting networking elements of Blade Centers, Multicast Network services, LAN and WAN network designs, Network monitoring & control, QOS, complex routing & switching protocols, VPN’s, and state of the art network security implementation.
IBM (U.K) – Dec/2008 - Dec/2009
I worked at IBM - BC&RS as Network Specialist (Contractor), providing network development, design, implementation and troubleshooting support for six IBM Data Centers across London.
I looked after IBM’s Blue Chip clients such as Trading & Investments banks, hedge fund, government & various other clients in the area of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, as well as supported IBM network infrastructure. I was involved in testing, design (for new clients), implementation and support of multiple Disaster Recovery data center network across London region which consist of predominantly Cisco high end state of the art hardware's, as well as other venders like HP, Nokia & checkpoint. I was also supporting system built team in the area of networking and participating in on-call Rota to provide 24/7 support.
My Day to day activities involved:
§ Interacting with financial sector & other clients to come up with a plan to build up Network elements & security appliances as well as Disaster Recovery test environment & prepare documentation for any invocation as well as carrying out network design & documentation using MS office and MS Visio for new & existing customer.
§ Configuring various routers up to Cisco 7600 series, CISCO CATALYST 6500 & HP switches. Apart from building usual data & voice network I also built Market Data, REUTERS/RMDS & BLOOMBERG financial network services, and merge them with client’s network based on individual requirement.
§ Implementing & supporting data center network across London which involves commissioning / decommissioning, configuring and supporting CISCO 6500 /5000/ 4xxx/37xx 35xx catalyst Switches in both CATOS & IOS, CISCO PIX/ASA Firewall, occasionally checkpoint on Nokia, and other access control and authentication technologies, Ether-channels, switch stacking, HSRP, VRRP, DWDM Metro Ethernet, optic fiber / Cat5/6- cabling & Patching.

I worked for AT&T as a Network Specialist (Contractor), supporting/troubleshooting AT&T Infrastructure, B2B business and network model for AT&T’s Blue chip clients who utilize AT&T IP/MPLS backbone to communicate with various branches & data centers globally, I was part of a team of senior engineers who were providing 24/7 cover which included working on day and night shifts, as well as mentoring, supervising and supporting a team of junior network engineers in supporting the network infrastructure which consisted of CISCO hardware.
My daily routine involved troubleshooting range of Networking issues at client side (CE) routers and switches, provider edge (PE), Managed Firewalls as well as advising customer on upgrades/design-redesign of existing & new network, below is a brief list of technologies I dealt with :
British Telecom Radianz (U.K), March 2006- Jan 2007
I worked for BT Radianz as Network Configuration Engineer (Contractor) through Intact Networks (Cisco Gold Partner) on Global IP/MPLS Project for REUTERS. I was involved in deploying & migrating clients across EMEA, ASIA and America to IP/MPLS network consisting of CISCO hardware and connecting them to REUTER’s datacenter so they can access REUTER’s financial services and applications. I was also in charge of supervising & supporting field engineers in performing network installation and configuration. I worked on high end, state of the art platforms such as CISCO 12k GSR, 7K & 10k routers as PE, and various CISCO models on CE
I was responsible for implementing network and its configuration from scratch, then carrying out vigorous network testing prior to hand over to customers who were Trading / Investments banks, hedge fund and in other financial organizations. My main duties involved:
