    Education and Training

    Visiting student, Mar 2011 - Sep 2011
    University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK

Development of the master thesis project. The work mainly focused on the study of the vibrational issues of a large flexible structure, a Space Solar Power (SSP) satellite.
The objective of the work was to study the interactions between the attitude/orbital control actions and the flexible structure. Hence, an Attitude and Orbital Control System (AOCS), based upon continuous and low thrust control action, was designed along with the development of a tailored Matlab/Nastran finite element model for the structure. Considering the developed AOCS, there exist considerable interaction problems during the operative life of the spacecraft. A vibration suppression system was consequently proposed to mitigate the effects of these, potentially dangerous, interactions.
