NOAA- Department of Commerce (SGT, Inc Contractor) ESPDS Contract Aug 02 – present
Software maintenance and enhancements of the Satellite Scheduling system (SOMS) for the Polar orbiting satellites of the department of Commerce ( NOAA).
· Provided software support for the launch of NOAA18, NOAA19 polar satellites of the US Government. Upgraded the application software to support scheduling of JASON02, and METOP (IJPS) joint missions of the European and US Governments.
· Increased the data throughput by implementing software solutions to re-schedule secondary satellites at less busy CDA stations. This functionality minimized data loss during times of heavy congestion between the constellation satellites.
· Implemented cost-saving software solutions to streamline the command schedule execution, thereby reducing the man-hours at the control centre.
· Provided risk mitigation by performing diligent unit, integration and regression testing of the software components of the application sub-systems.
· Developed requirements, system specifications and implemented the enhancements to the scheduling sub-system as required by the PIR (Problem reporting system) system. Developed algorithms for the data TRANSFER from the ground station to the control center. The design of these algorithms improved the timeliness of data by an order of magnitude.
· Designed, developed, and implemented algorithms to resolve spacecraft-CDA resource conflicts to enable the generation of conflict-free schedules for NOAA’s polar mission. This functionality enabled the scheduling of DUAL contacts during times of heavy conflict period of the satellites. This in turn almost doubled the data download capability at the CDA stations. Maintained software for ephemeris load generation for NOAA satellites.
