RESEARCH
2011 – 2012, CISAS "G. Colombo", Padova/Italy
"Technical support in Helicon Plasma Thruster experiment of EU FP7 HPH.com program"
Experimental hardware development for different plasma sources based on RF helicon technology. Development and implementation of capacitive probes. Functioning investigation through experimental
tests.
2011, Ph.D. thesis
"Performance characterization of propulsion systems for spacecraft applications"
Experimental investigation of hybrid rocket motors performance, both on small and full scale versions, in order to study the functioning problematics: a) discharge tests, to set-up the hydraulic circuit, valve actuation and injection of oxidizer; b) ignition tests, to study the characteristics of sprays produced by different injectors; c) hot firing tests, to investigate the behavior of the motor during complete functioning operations. Results have been used for the development of a “proto-flight” motor version, and for the analysis of its functioning parameters.
2007, Master of Science thesis
"Design of a Test Stand Facility for Hybrid Propulsion Systems"
Study and implementation of a test-stand facility for testing hybrid propulsion systems, designed specifically for performances measurements, such as thrust, propellant mass flow rate, pressure in combustion chamber and reservoir temperature. Detail design and construction of the oxidant tank. Results of cold tests, conducted to verify the facility, to calibrate measuring instruments and validate the mathematical model which describes the evolution of pressure in the tank.
2004, Bachelor of Science thesis
"Analysis of horizontal winds effects on attitude reconstruction during probe descending in planetary atmosphere. Application at HASI 2003 flight from Sicily."
