For the first time ever astronomers have studied an asteroid that has entered the Solar System from interstellar space. Observations from ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile and other observatories around the world show that this unique object was traveling through space for millions of years before its chance encounter with our star system. It appears to be a dark, reddish, highly-elongated rocky or high-metal-content object. The new results appear in the journal Nature on 20 November 2017. ...

Twice as big as Earth, the super-Earth 55 Cancri e was thought to have lava flows on its surface. The planet is so close to its star, the same side of the planet always faces the star, such that the planet has permanent day and night sides. Based on a 2016 study using data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, scientists speculated that lava would flow freely in lakes on the starlit side and become hardened on the face of perpetual darkness. The lava on the dayside would reflect radiation from th...

Landing on Mars is difficult and not always successful. Well-designed advance testing helps. An ambitious NASA Mars rover mission set to launch in 2020 will rely on a special parachute to slow the spacecraft down as it enters the Martian atmosphere at over 12,000 mph (5.4 kilometers per second). Preparations for this mission have provided, for the first time, dramatic video of the parachute opening at supersonic speed. The Mars 2020 mission will seek signs of ancient Martian life by investiga...

    SMC, Govt. of INDIA

    Aug 2009 to Jan 2010

The project was intended only for managing libraries falling under Surat Municipal Corporation. This    project was basically for managing both the libraries Narmada Central Library and Dr Vishnu Prasad Trivedi Library under Surat Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction.  It was also for updating the manual library system into a internet based application which is to be accessed through server of SMC, Muglisara by both the administrative staff of above mentioned libraries and members of this libraries to know the details of book purchased, book ordered, book issued etc. and to know  their account availability of books etc. respectively. This System provided a management functionality to facilitate the Circulation, Acquisition, Cataloguing, Serializing, Approval Management and administrating of resources.

The system had four different types of users namely Librarian, Administrator Staff, Executive Staff & Member of library and each of the type of user had different control over different modules.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    ·         Designing the web based UI by using CSS, HTML.

    ·         Used VB as programming language, Visual Studio 2005, MVC2 as Front End and SQL Server  as back-end development platform.

    ·         Performing client side validation and animation using JavaScript  and jQuery etc.

    ·         Data flow design, mapping of business logic to database.

    ·         Performing Database tuning and performance optimization.

    2.     Edited and Modified a software for Satellite System Capacity Optimization Using On-Board Resource Allocations: Advanced Multi beam Terabit/s Satellite Technologies(proposed by European Space Agency) with University of Surrey as a dissertation project

    University of Surrey, UK

           Sep 2010 to Sep 2011

Any country’s prosperity is dependent on information content it has and means it uses to exchange those information. And, this need for ever increasing exchange of information/communications can only be satisfactorily supported when there is speed and latent free environment. This can only be achieved by satellite systems of huge capacity. The satellite with huge capacity would be able to provide broadband services even up to the last mile, with speed and without latency. The satellite capacity can only be increased with aid of advanced multi-beam satellite technologies.

In order to achieve multi-beam, the satellite needs to operate at higher frequency bands. As, the C and Ku bands are being are overcrowded, thus the only option is to target on higher frequency bands lie Ka bands. Further, I realized that the satellite operating at higher frequency bands like Ka bands would be able to implement multi-beam technology, due to the fact that as frequency increases wavelength decreases, and these narrow wavelengths will provide narrow footprints but with more number of beams and because of this re-use would be possible, which in turn would increase satellite system capacity.

I, analyzed the current demands for broadband communications, and found that the current satellites with 10 Gb/s capacity would fail to support and provide a qualitative broadband service. Thus the satellite system capacity needs to rise up to 1 Terabit/s.

A strategy was made  wherein the gateway links would be operating on Q/V bands and UT links would operating on Ka band wherein the beams for GES are smaller in number than that of UT but will carry greater capacity and thus would be allocated greater bandwidth. But there was a key issue which was coming against the way of achieving Terabit/s satellite system capacity and there was a need to find that key-issue.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    ·         Investigated the effect and behavior of C/I across beam throughout the time series for a Terabit/s satellite. In investigation the maximum number of beams which can be supported by the Terabit/s satellite at different MOD/COD scheme was evaluated .And then the link budget was closed by  chosing optimum parameters, so that the link-budget gets closed at optimum margin. Then the behavior of C/I was realized by simulation.

    ·         Thus, C/I was found to be  a very sensitive issue and it varies across the beam throughout the time series for different position on the beam, because of various reasons like nearby beam’s frequency, the distance of same color beam, the correlated interference etc. Thus each position must be treated individually; we cannot just take the average effect and design the system.

    ·         Thus, I investigated that C/I is one of key-issues that must be determined and analyzed individually for each position on beam and also for each position of different beams falling in coverage of the satellite so as to make a Terabit/s satellite system into reality. Further, even percentage of time for which a particular MOD/COD scheme would work must also be analyzed to make a Terabit/s satellite system into reality.

    3.     Developed a Windows Phone 7.5 based Mobile App named as “Herbal Remedies” with Dr. Harish Thakkar (Ayurvedacharya) that can help an individual to cure his/her diseases naturally through herbs.

    March 2012

The content of this application was by Dr. Harish Thakkar and Dr. Trupti Thakkar. In this application, selected 18 health problems (which hares our day to day life) and their herbal remedies had been presented. We all should know about them. Information regarding such useful herbal remedies should be handy to everyone. So that it can be applied whenever it is required. There is no other handy instrument than mobile phone in modern times, so every mobile phone should be uploaded with such useful application

    4.     Created Project Management System as per ITIL V3 & ISO/IEC 20000 standard

Sai Narayan Infomob, INDIA and Realmbizsoft,UK

           April 2012 – November 2012

Prime focus of project management software was to manage the software engineering processes like planning, controlling, performing, coordination etc. – effectively and efficiently in such a way that the software development company operates as per ITIL V3 and ISO/IEC 20000 standard and the software development lifecycle as per Agile methodologies.

The software involved modules for chosing appropriate process model, allocating resources, estimating the time and cost and continuous monitoring of process.

Project management software gives insight about challenges and how to tackle them in advance. It spans over all the processes in software engineering.

The main purpose of project management software was to bring a specified project to completion on time and within budget. While software project management shares these common objectives, it was also responsible for helping software development and testing team understand end-user requirements and employing processes that ensure a high-quality final product.
