Interface Manager Engineer
Working for the kit provider team. My scope is to manage the interfaces of all the payloads and equipments attached to the structure of the satellite. The satellite is a project of the ESA created for sun observation. The interfaces must be designed in a way that different fixings allow the right adjustment capabilities. I report to a department manager but I'm responsible for this space ships. I have an extra attribution that is to implement the new zero paper policy creating 3D drawings equivalent to the current 2D drawings.
03/ 2013 – 8/2013 Altran Germany (Outsourced at Kayser-Threde, Munich)
Satellite Telescope Design Engineer
Responsible of the detailed design of the Optical Bench Assembly for the Flexible Combined Imager Telescope of the Meteosat Third Generation Satellite. Is an ITT for the ESA. My scope is to redesign the current proposal to make it feasible and design most of the parts that currently are just envelope volumes. It's a CFRP sandwich panel with big metallic rings inserted to accommodate the different mirrors of the telescope. Of course the precision and the thermal behavior is a must in the project.
01/ 2013 – 03/2013 YACHT (Outsourced at ASML in Eindhoven, the Netherlands)
Hired to work in the Opto-mechanics team as design engineer in the NXE UV 3000, the first vacuum lithography machine. The company is world leader in lithography machines. These machines are responsible of printing more than the 80% of the microchips around the world. This machine accelerates at 150 Gs hundreds of times per hour and has a position accuracy of 19nm being one of the most precise and fastest machines in the world. I was placed provisionally in the maintenance design department and helped in the design of stepladders, stairs etc. I received an offer from Altran Germany for a really interesting project and I decided to move forward.
10/2010 – 12/2012 TTI Norte (Outsourced at EADS ASTRIUM CASA Espacio in Madrid, Spain)
Satellite Antennas Mechanical Design Engineer
Design responsible of high precision components (feeders) of a KA-band satellite antenna (AMAZONAS 3)
Reporting to a team leader that managed three other antennas and working together with a the RF, thermal and stress teams.
The assembly was a cluster of eleven small complex-shaped metallic horns (feeders) with a rear polarizer that emit and receive microwaves from earth.
My role was to create a new design solution for the feeders structure. A high precision design to guarantee the right pointing of the antenna and able to withstand the thermal distortion in space, while keeping the pointing in tolerance and also able to withstand the accelerations during satellite launch. All with strict weight and space restrictions.
I completely redesigned the structure with the help of the other teams, changing carbon fiber panels into metallic three-legged self-sustained thermal-isostatic horns with a careful selection of materials (titanium, aluminium, invar and steel).
The model passed the full tests and now is flying.
After that I´ve designed two 2.5 meters diameter carbon fiber reflectors that are being built. The reflectors are made of a sandwich with an aluminium honeycomb core and with carbon fiber skins. The reflectors must be really light, must have a good thermal behavior and must withstand the acoustic and random tests because launch frequencies affect too much its structures. The design is basically a parabolic dish with rear ribs bonded creating an structure that makes it stiffer and that transfers the loads to the interface points with the satellite. Even if each reflector is tailored, it is the more standard product of the company.

Technical director and lead designer of a Moto2 racing motorcycle for the Spanish championship.
We design and build a motorcycle in cooperation with the readers of La Moto, the bestseller bike magazine in Spain. The bike is an avant-garde design that applies unconventional steering and suspension solutions based in the patents I registered in previous designs.
As technical director I lead the full mechanical development, designing and calculating of parts and work via a website with other engineers (readers) focused in simulation, aerodynamics and performance.
As editor I publish two articles every month. A section about the MOTO2 project and the Hi-Tech section about advanced materials, coatings, parts... that are being used in the racing motorcycles.
