    Globecomm Systems January 2008 – November 2010

    Globecomm Systems, a systems integrator and service provider, designs and builds complex, turn-key networks for customers in the Media & Entertainment, Wireless, Government, Enterprise, and Maritime markets globally. 

    Senior Director, Broadcast Business Development

    • Created IP-video service delivery strategy to generate up to $10M over 5 years. Treating content delivery as an ecosystem, strategy provided content delivery as a “service” versus “commodity” business.  Product development efforts included assessment of potential target markets, creation of strategy, and validation of strategy through customer research.
    • Identified new markets, opportunities, and potential strategic partners to increase revenues while managing risk.
    • Created technical system designs, wrote customer proposals, and provided sales support for IP video customer initiatives.


    • Created strategy treating content owner versus the end user as the customer.  Plan provided ability to build both infrastructure and service business.  Sources of revenue would be content owners and service providers; both ends of the value chain. 
    • Key projects included development of new IP video service delivery business to enter South African market.  IPTV Head-end design and proposal support for new service provider customers in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and the Bahamas.


    GlobeCast America October 1995 – June 2007

    GlobeCast, a France Telecom Company with teleports, space segment, and facilities around the world,provides transmission services to most of the world’s major broadcasters.  

    Senior Vice President, Business Development  (2004 – 2007)

    • Directed creation of 1st major strategic plan for GlobeCast America.  Delivered 5-year business plan delivering $40M of growth detailing products, target markets, marketing, sales, and financial projections to GlobeCast Corporate Chairman.
    • Cultivated strategic partners to increase market presence in the plan areas.  One key initiative was development of IPTV content delivery platform via satellite to Telco and Cable service providers.  Supported technical platform design, established pricing models, identified target customers, managed process of securing transport and distribution rights from major US cable programmers. Secondary target market was international Direct-To-Home programmers.
    • Key contributor in reorganizing company to stabilize costs and improve margins, and re-tool product offerings.
    • Key contributor in annual budgeting processes; budget preparation through corporate approval of $80M-$120M budgets.  

    Senior Vice President, Enterprise Services  (2001 – 2004)

    • Division Manager of Enterprise Services with revenues of $10M.  U.S. Enterprise business provided turn-key satellite services enabling Fortune 500 companies to deliver training and corporate communications to employees at all locations. 
    • Realigned staff and introduced IP services into a traditional video environment.  Created partnerships with complimentary service providers.  Achieved $3M increase in revenue. 
    • Led global Enterprise task force, focusing on product development of offerings to our U.S., Asian, and European business unit customers.

    Senior Vice President, Multimedia Services  (1997 – 2001)

    • Assumed overall management of Multimedia Services Division.  Generated revenues of $7 million.
    • Redefined product sold, and made adjustments in pricing.  Restructured to improve efficiency of Operations.  Result was an expanded customer base and improvement in customer service. 
    • Drove product development/implementation of U.S. IP product meeting market need for scalable, secure, interactive training platform, developing budgets and  identifying potential strategic partners in IP arena.
    • Represented GlobeCast America at Corporate in development of global IP products, and provide sales support.
    • Part of team responsible for design and deployment of GlobeCast ATM fiber network within the U.S.  Responsible for vendor selection, contract negotiation, hardware selection and purchasing, internal costing and pricing, and implementation.  

    Senior Vice President, Client & Transponder Services  (1996 – 1997)

    • Managed 24x7 Customer Service Center responsible for supporting our broadcast, program syndication, and cable customers.  Responsible for transponder planning and overall transponder utilization.  Group managed scheduling and loading of GlobeCast America’s ad-hoc transponder and fiber resources.  
    • Negotiated agreements with satellite carriers for transponders, insuring sufficient capacity to meet customer demand.
    • Program managed software development and implementation of new GlobeCast traffic system.  System replaced use of 2 separate traffic systems left over from merger of Keystone and IDB Communications.

    Director Of Sales  (1995 – 1996)

    • Managed $11M sales budget for Western Region and staff of 3 account representatives.  
    • Sold production, studio, transmission, and space segment services to broadcast customers.


    • Created 1st major 5-year strategic plan for GlobeCast America including $40M in revenue growth over plan period.  Key component was use of new technologies to enhance core competency of global content distribution.
    • Development of plan to reorganize company to improve financial performance.  Modified existing product offerings and planned for development of new ones.
    • Growth of Enterprise Services revenues to $10M; a $3M increase.
    • Directed GlobeCast inter-business unit task force to reposition company as global Content Exchange IP-based service provider.


    Lambert Communications February 1994 – August 1995

    Healthcare communications company delivering continuing education to nursing staff, medical news to physicians, and patient entertainment programming via satellite to hospitals across the U.S.

    • As Vice President, Operations I was responsible for the satellite based program distribution network to 700 hospitals.  I managed an operations staff of 3 and a sales staff of 2 who sold our program services into hospitals.


    GTE Spacenet Corporation May 1985 – September 1993

    Satellite Communications company with fleet of hybrid  and Ku-Band satellites delivering voice, video, and data transmission services.  Owned and operated supporting TT&C earth stations.

    • Held product management and transponder management positions during my 8 year tenure at GTE.  The primary markets serviced were the major US Broadcasters and cable program service providers.  


    • Successfully transitioned live customer traffic during repositioning of 2 on-orbit GTE satellites between 2 orbital positions.
    • Led the development of Ku-Band Satellite News Gathering product; the 1st of its kind in the U.S. domestic market.  Product integrated satellite-based phone service with video on a single satellite.  Offering was created through collaboration with our broadcast customers, sales, engineering, legal, and finance.
