    SELECTED ENGINEERING PROJECTS AND RESEARCHES

    • FPGA-based remote controlled thermostat. This project employs the Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA, 1000K gates to create a digital system that resolves the infra red signals of the SONY RMT-D203A remote control unit. The said unit is used as a remote keypad to insert the pin code and then the temperature setting. A complete VHDL code was developed to realize the system functions. The system was fully built and converted to a PCB unit.
    • MBED- based remote controlled thermostat. This project employs the MBED board which is a tool for rapid prototyping with microcontrollers. It uses the NXP LPC1768 ARM microcontroller. A complete C++ code was developed to resolve the infra red signals of the SONY RMT-D203A remote control unit. The said unit is used as a remote keypad to insert the pin code and then the temperature setting.
    • Neural Network based tracking controller. This project employs a trained neural network to track a target moving in the plane. A Back propagation neural network is implemented via MATLAB code. System testing is done via Simulink building blocks.
    • Fuzzy Logic based tracking controller: This is a re-implantation for the above project using fuzzy logic controllers. System testing is done via Simulink building blocks.
    • Robot Path Planning: This is a three-phase project implemented successfully using MATALAB code. A 6-joint PUMA robot mathematical model is realized using MATLAB code. Robot testing is done through route planning represented by drawing a sine wave on a white board.
    • Robot vehicle tracking system: Lyapunov stability method is employed in this project to design a robot controller. This controller governs a two-wheel robot vehicle in a way that makes the robot tracks a moving target. Robot vehicle receives a radar signal from the target. The controller analyses the signal and gives orders to the robot wheel motors.

     

    • Masters Degree Research. Building a PC interfacing board to connect the personal computer's ISA bus to the CAMAC Parallel Brach Highway bus system. Driver routines and procedures were written in C language. The said routines -that interact with assembly language- are responsible for data flow control and synchronization from/to the CAMAC system. The project was realized as a PCB board.
    • 68HSC12 based remote control signal analyzer: A Remote control signal analyzer to detect/identify SONY RMT-D203A remote control signals. 68HSC12 microcontroller's board is employed. System software is written with 68HCS12 assembly language.
