    RF Design and Test Engineer working for AceAxis (Essex, UK) in the Radio Systems Group since 2010.

    My most recent work has involved the development of Remote Radio Head (RRH) products for LTE and WiMax systems.

    I have carried out design verification testing of radio receivers and transmitters, extended life testing and design of RF and IF filter stages.

    The software tools I am most familiar with are Mentor Pads for schematic capture and layout, Agilent ADS for RF simulation, hp Vee and Labview for running system tests.

    Previously employed at NortelNetworks in the Wireless Technology Department, where my role began as a Technician and progressed to an RF Engineer.

    4G Antenna Array for cost reduction project, involving track layout with ADS for 9-element antenna array, micro-strip air-gap solution, including power splitters and phase delay sections.

    2003-2010, NortelNetworks- RF Engineer in the product design team for Radio Development in the Carrier Networks Division.

    Transmit PA sections for LTE Radios, 900 to 2600MHz. Driver section design, impedance matching and testing. Transceiver levels planning, adaptation from 700MHz system to higher frequency bands.

    Tower Top LNA development for improved coverage of communication systems, 2.3 and 2.6GHz. Design of LNA protection circuits, gain compensation and system testing. Use of ADS for RF design and HPVee software for laboratory testing.

    Design of 1.5GHz LNA for WiMax radio receiver stage, matching networks and PIN diode protection section. ADS used for RF design.

    Bias-T Lightning protection and filter for tower top LNA system at 1800MHz. BPF network design for datacomm link and surge protection.

     

    1996-2003, Nortel Networks- Technician Engineer in the Wireless Technology Labs (WTL).

    Development of Frequency Translators at 1800 and 1900MHz for uplink and downlink conversion in UMTS trials, LO and VCO design.

    Design and development of RF coupler circuits and PIN diode attenuators for UMTS radio system, simulations and PCB layout with Jomega RF design tools.

    Design of power detection circuit for gain control of power amplifier.

    Test and development of RF front end receivers at 6 and 11GHz bands, LNA and mixer stage measurements.

    Studied for BEng (Hon’s) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, awarded in 1996.

    Design and development of radio transceivers and PA stages in the 700 to 2700MHz bands.

    Project utilising the mains distribution network for Internet access, involving the development of 240V interface units, RF Repeaters, integration trials and verification measurements.
